Even though I don't drive the FG, I seem to still spend money on it! I am after some advice for selecting some new tires to fit the 50th Anniversary XR6T Ute Rims, and how to deal with the camber - I have only racked up 35,000 k's on the factories, but was told at the last service that they are scrubbing the insides and are no longer roadworthy. I took this to a local tire shop, who said all Ford's need to run a negative camber or else they are horrible to drive - Apparently mine looks like it is running a bit too negative and may need to get shims added to correct this... I have had an alignment done at about 15,000 (at a different tire place) and they said it was all correct (obviously not). My questions are: 1) If the negative camber is so common, is there some form of kit to solve this? Something adjustable? 2) What type of tires should I be looking at? Please keep in mind: - I only really do some spirited driving on occasion, so I am not after tires that handle amazingly, but only last 15,000. Something middle of the road would be perfect. - I have already scanned this thread for some suggestions. I asked the tire shop for "Nitto Invos" as these seemed to keep coming up - The tire shop said they could not get them in the right size. Pic attached for scrubbing reference. Then Malaga suspension offered the option to get a camber kit installed which I took them up on and it has been good so far. I had Achilies ATR sports 2 tires on and they were worse than your picture. I then got the camber kit in and my current continental contact sport 3s have no issues at the front. They seem to be wearing out a bit at the rear, but that is understandable. I have a lead foot.

Apparently a world of difference between them, especially wet weather grip, which I heard was supposed to be improved in the sport 2??? For OP: 1) pretty sure from factory they should be around -0.5* fronts. The lower your car, the more camber is introduced....so if you dump it, you end up needing adjustable camber arms which some brands give you up to -3* of movement (so you can tuck them if jap spec is your thing, or adjust it back closer to oem settings (depending how agressive your offset is and how much clearance is available at said height)). At my cars height (maybe 10mm lower than factory, I get away with shims only). 2) nitto invos will be a 10-15k km set at best situation. Grippy but not "middle range" like you want. If that's your thing, kuhmo ku39 (or the older ku31) are pretty decent and id get 40k+ (probably more if you are rotating same sizes all round). Also Goodyear Eagle f1a2 (theres a the f1a3 now which I havent tried yet) but again got like 35000 on those on the rear (265/35/18). I currently have re003 all round, fairly grippy, not as good as Goodyear in the wet (but still enough to hang on if your progressive with the right foot). This is all in a stock FG xr6t. Tuned = less kms lol

Lol atr sports and wet weather grip are two phrases that don't belong in the same universe. When I find my gopro I'll record a wet weather commute 275 sport 2s on the back and they're useless even without provocation. Bloody good fun though.

Thought the 2s were supposed to be way better in the wet. Obviously not... Lucky I dont stinge out on tyres

Stay away from them in winter. They are good for summer tires and drifting tires.....

Now avoid them as I like grip too much. Loving the grip from Michelin Pilot Sport 3s but might be too expensive, I paid about $250 each fitted in 245/40/18. Not soft tread either so last a while. Used to use KU31 and they were good value but got a bit too slippery in the wet when past half way. I like to take off at medium speed (or more) from sets of lights though. KU39 might be better since they are the replacement model?

I feel like I need stickier tyres up front! I'm a bloody hoon. Also would not recommend low end pirelli tyres, don't know what I was thinking. Just because Model T of brand X is a good tyre, does not mean their model Y is any good. edit: I also laugh at my mate with a 307 HSV who reckons achilles tyres hook up just fine... edit2: sorry, that arron guy 'TECH EXPERT' is also a hoon. I had the same problem with understeer. Got the suspension changed and holy cow. It was like night and day. Car handles bloody well. I have had two different places comment on how far the front tires have been used on the sides. They can't believe I have worn the tires that far out on the edges. Yes I do take corners pretty hard, but the continental contact sport 3 are good tires. I think the important bit here in regards to in tire wear is that a camber kit resolves all issues.......
