Hi all,

So I recently picked up a Manual BF MK2.5 XR6T with 140000 on the clock. While I know this is high kms it was a good price which I couldn't resist. I have a few questions regarding the naintainenece etc.

1. I'm going to do a full service of the car soon (oils, fluids, filters etc) so what would be recommended on a turbo of this age? The gearbox is a bit sticky so I'm going to do a service on that.

2. How can I check the health of the engine? I don't want to give it a bootfull until I know how healthy it is.

3. Is it true that the bf mk2.5 engine has similar internals to the typhoon engine? If so what parts?

4. The gearbox is making a roll over noise (apparently common on these gearboxes) should I be worried or is this normal?

Any more tips just let us knowsmile.gif

Thanks!

regarding the naintainenece

welcome to the forum,

1. 10w-40 I used last, I think all good here long as its synthetic (cuz the turbo heats the f^ck out of it) and the last number is -40. might put in a 5w-40 next myself. used a ryco filter.

2. give it a boot after ya done the oil change and you've driven it normally for ten minutes to warm it up properly. cmon rip a skid, it's australia.

3. stronger rods and idk what else

4. lightning strike silver has the least maintenance. you better hope your car is this colour :)

140k is just run in.

Do your service. Change all the fluids and filters.

Fuel filter is on the left chassis rail under the back seat/rear door area. The bolts are a c u next Tuesday to get out. There's threads here on it. The rest are easy.

I use nulon full syn 10w40 and a ryco filter z516 is the one you want. I've got a k&n panel filter.

I highly recommend getting an aftermarket oil feed line for your turbo if it hasn't been done yet. Here's why

Plenty of kits floating about. I just picked one up for $110.

After you've done all that if you're still unsure take it to your local tuner and get them to check it out for you.

Where are you located?
