I went for my driving test on Friday and passed. I was pretty happy with myself not having to pay anymore money to go for the drving test (I failed once).

TODAY

My friend and I decide to go shopping for an upcoming birthday party. Its kinda a weird feeling not having mum and dad breathing down your throat for the first time.

On the way into the shopping centre carpark the radio starts messing around, I turned it off thinking that is just another problem apart from lack of power in a 4cyl camry. :kissmy:

After shopping I turn the key again to head home....my heart just sank. :(

The car wouldnt crank. So I ring dad who come over and jumps starts it with the T. The car barely starts but I manage to chug away.

Then the worst enemy appears ahead.....a long steep hill....foot buried the revs drop by the thousand every second....back to first, 5 thousand all the way up the hill, dad had to stop for a roundabout and the camry just died when it stopped nearly on the steepest part of the hill. Absolutley crapping myself...what do I do...ARGH

Damn alternator problem lucky its not my car ;) for a beginner driver I have also had a prang where some old guy ran up my backside.

Where have you guys broken down? Im sure some of you have been in worse sitatuions

Ran off (read slid) the road in the snow one winter up near Nowendoc, via Walcha, via Tamworth. Got rescued by the SES at 3 in the morning.

1 month later I wrote off that Range Rover at 2 in the morning half way between Moombi and Moore Creek. Long walk to the nearest servo in the dark again.

sorry dad. I was still 18.

I'm now 32, and have improved my driving style substantially.

Thousands of f*ckin times. Worst two were;

1st time, Ford Bronco smashed the diff centre while launching in Low Range, 1st gear ratio of about 52:1 some pick-up, at Fishermans Island about midnight. 100k tow home to Bellbowrie (very heavy car to have on a tilt tray with 5 passengers) Centre was that bad that I couldn't drive with the front centre engaged.

2nd time sh*t the starter on my 350 Chevy powered Volvo down at Mermaid Beach (at the Shell) about 2am. Tilt got me home around 6.30am.

Hey KTFord.

Theres a location for a NSW/QLD cruise weekend. The road from Walcha to the coast is one of the best pieces of tar in Australia, bar none. Long straights, sweeping corners, tight hairpins, chance of losing your brakes on the way down the mountain.

I wanna go there SOON now.
