Car stalled; now it's running really rich? Also other issues.

Hey All;

So I've got a 08 F6-310. Running roughly 500rwhp (probably less atm).

I've gone through quite a bit of hell fixing this car up. Within the first year of it (bought it 2nd hand fml already modded), I've had turbo go bust, fuel pumps, clutch etc etc. (Car is manual)

I love driving the car. It's my daily. When she pulls boost it's amazing. But there are somethings that just are bothering me atm. Now I'm not a mechanic, so was wondering if anyone could help me with possible causes for when I take it into the mechanic so we don't waste too much time.

1. Car was running a tad lean (15-15.3 AFR) in idle, but under boost is fine. Was just lightly boosting down the road/down the hill. Hit the lights. Car starts shaking a little, revs up, then stalls ('ETC Fault' is what came up). Start the car up again, she's now running idle at 14, and just during normal driving it's between 11-13. I have no idea what it could be; apart from O2 sensor? But I recently replaced my old one after it came loose and was in contact with piping and melted.

2. I had a cracked gearbox crossmember. We got a new one and we put in a TUFF Mount for it. It's tightened everything up since there was a bit of knocking going around. I was told the knocking was just the gearbox have a bit of movement from teh cracked crossmember. That being said; there is a strong bit of clunking when the clutch disengages, as though there is movement in the gears. Other issues include sometimes throwing the gears into second is sometimes hard. It won't go in or it grinds a little (usually in lower revs). Also when I do extremely quick gear changes, there is a thud (we thought it was the movement due to the cracked crossmember but it's still there so maybe in the gearbox?) any ideas?

3. If I full rev first gear; my tyres spin. Issue is at somepoint, there is constant thudding at higher revs. Like something is about to snap (Ive already gone through two cv joints). I was told it was because I have a Kazz Diff, but does anyone else have this issue? It kinda is annoying when I can do a burnout in a crappy proton, but if I go to do one in my f6, it sounds like the tyres aren't actually burning out. Any ideas?

I really do appreciate any and all feedback! Thank you!

George :)

Well this must be fate, cause I tell ya that I am in the same boat. Nah this aint love.

When Rob83r says diff bush, I believe he is answering to your third point.

It could be your diff bush that is fubar and replacing it normally solves the problem.

However if you are like me, I have replaced the diff bush with a red nolothane bush.

I get the thud alot if I set my shockwork suspension to soft/hard. Cant remwmber which. Did it once and didn't like the sound and didnt do it again.

The second point in regards to the thud, is it coming from the rear, if it is then it deffinately sounds like the diff bush. Even though mine has the nolothane bush, it does thud during gear changes, but not as bad when the factory bush was fubar.

This week I was getting the following error messages coming up:

P0133 - Powertrain

O2 sensor Circuit Slow Response

P1000 -Powertrain

P1260 -Powertrain

I sent a message to Rob and he said it was fine. It has happened twice in the last week.

This past week the car has been doing weird ass sh*t. When coming to a stop and I disengage the clutch, the engine keeps the revs up at about 1500rpm for 2-3 seconds and then it brings it back down to normal. I thought this was to weird.

Now back to where I started. Must be fate because just yesterday I was at a birthday party. When I left the party and got to the first intersection, the car came up with ETC error and then the car stalled.

In regards to the ETC error showing up. I had to turn the key off and wait a couple of seconds and then start the car (guy behind was impatient).

I didn't get to scan the car then. Got home and scanned for codes with the app called torque.

This is what came up:

P1000 - Powertrain

P2105 - Powertrain

Throttle Actuator Control System - Forced engine shutdown

P2110 - Powertrain

Throttle Actuator Control System - Forced Limited RPM.

I am going to have to speak to the tuna first and find out what the go is. No solution from me, but thought I would share my experience.

Is your car tuned? If so have you used the xcal to scan for codes?

Car is tuned. Thing is I dont have an xcal for it so ill have to have the mechanic have a look at it to scan it.

As for the diff bush, I did change diff bushes already. Upgraded them after it split not that long ago so I get the idea of the little thud. Thinking just the gearbox needs replacing idk.

isn't there some part called a thrust bearing that could cause this fault?

I came across a FG that has that "idle going crazy" thing then ETC fault showing up. Switch off then restart and then all good. It was a manual FG and tuned.

I got it to do it about 10 times. The symtoms vary. Sometimes it revs up and holds, other times it stalls, but always ETC fault code afterwards.

I thought it might have been hardware related but looks like that this could be software/tuning related.

@turbotrana

Sounds like a TPS or throttle issue.
The throttle blade may be slightly loose and jamming in the body. TPS itself may be shot as well.

Thing is though; car was fine before hand. It never use to rev up like that; so it only happened once.

Im just wondering what could have caused it to now go from 15 to now 13 after it stalled once.
Last time this happened it was because my fuel pumps were shot and fuel pressure was dropping.
