Only done 103,000kms. I will replace water pump and gaskets. I wanted to get advice, should I replace timing chain and tensioner guides while I am there? When the chain is stretched and the guides are worn out/snapped it can more easily jump teeth when the driver of the car is thrashing it. what I'm told is it seems to be when somebody is going at it hard and then quickly releases the throttle. In my cars case, old owner thought the bottom end had gone so removed the engine but found it was just the timing gear. luckily the engine seems to be going strong 6 months later. apparently mine didn't skip teeth, was just making a horrible noise.
