All good mate.

You should be able to make the most of your setup now that it runs so cool.

After a 38 outside temp and a 28 inside temp today, I found my air cooled card sitting at 48 idle.

Mine had been idling at about 30 this winter and running around 60.

Recently I've seen it running about 70.

It is the gforce xtreme edition so it has decent cooling.

I'd still prefer a custom loop by all accounts.

This journey into custom loop water cooling has been alot of things, exciting, frustrating, tedious (waiting for things to arrive) and punctuated with anxiousness.

Initially I calculated the cost to be around the $500 mark, but ended up spending $980!!!!

Was it worth it?

Last night after running a few stress tests and gaming a bit, I went to bed grinning like someone who had just won lotto.

Would I recommend that someone who has never done this before attempt to do so?

Most definitely, I would do it again in a heart beat!

My main reason for going down this path?  Graphics card running at 76 degrees when gaming, and fan noise at 100% driving me crazy.

My system, 4 years old, is still kick ass, and although I could have bought a GTX 1080 for the price, I'd be left with a $1200 card sitting in the cupboard and still have the problem of high temps and fan noise. (I'm a grumpy old bastard)

But also wanted to try custom hard piped water cooling because it can look awesome.

Does my effort look awesome?

I'm very happy with what I have managed to fit into a somewhat limited space, and the case mods don't detract from the overall look.

The case was never intended to house a custom loop internally.

I'm glad that I powder coated it white, and I'm pleased with the white/red/black colour scheme.

It's awesome to me, and in reality that's what matters most, If others think it's awesome too, then that's a bonus.

But the pièce de résistance is the virtual silence and load temps that are 20 degrees cooler than before!

by the sound of what you just said, you should buy a new case with more fans :spoton:

it is a newish case but has spots for more fans to add. hence asking how to add said more fans.

one up front, one at the back as standard, then cooler on top. has 2 spots free on the sides and bottom. another free spot up front.

just buy the right size fans that fit the size of the screw hole spacing and then wire them up; it's that easy.

It gets more difficult if you want to have staged powering etc.

hey mate I run ALL my fans off the motherboard headers!

some might say its dodgy but they're wrong, I looked up the max amp's of the fan terminals and am not exceeding them. basically I plugged in a fan to the motherboard, cut the cable and spliced it to run multiple fans.

I run two fans off one header and two fans off the other header.

screw paying money for a fan controller, especially one that can't bloody be controlled by the motherboard so the fans ramp up as things get hotter!

depending on the fans you get but make sure you get ISO fans than hook directly into power sockets unless you have spots left on your motherboard for a direct connection

something like this
