Been trying to claw back some semblance of life outside of work recently, so decided to rebuild my PC and start gaming again. Looked at prices for 4000 series cards, decided that can fark right off, so grabbed an ASUS RTX TUF 3080 ti OC, a new case and an extra SSD for game installs. Opted to not upgrade CPU and mobo at this point, since Raptor Lake was nearly out when I pulled the trigger...plus CBF reinstalling Windows right now.

Also picked up a 49" Samsung CRG9 Super Ultrawide monitor - 'tis glorious!

Not overly fussed with the unicorn vomit builds, personally, so it's not super flashy. I can appreciate them, but since I also use this for Audio recording and it therefore sits quite far from my desk I opted for a cheaper and stealthier case and parts.

Thanks @bloodycrashboy, I was pretty happy with how the cable management turned out. I started out looking at doing the upgrade using my old case, then cracked the chits and bought a new case - zero ragrets.

Monitor is great - really immersive for gaming. I've got it mounted on an Ergotron HX monitor arm. It's a clamp style desk mount. You can see it mounted on the back left of the desk.

Bought the monitor from Hardley Normals for around $2K.

RTX 3080 ti OC was $1600, which was a damn site cheaper than they’d been for the last year or so.

we just dropped 2k on a RTX 3090 ti for a new build at work running a Ryzen 9 5950X as well, total cost of build 6k

big savings using previous gen hardware as everything is discounted to get rid of stock

I'll post some pics when the parts get here
