Got a sophos xg330 to run opnsense at work.
Middle sg330 runs opnsense/adguard/suricata at home.
Bottom one runs Windows 10 as a backup pc/ media server. 77db081a666bbc13fc186340be9bcd3b.jpg

My movie/music collection is on a qnap nas/external raid, which have well known security issues.
I've never had a problem though.
Apart from the security, probably most useful thing for home use is adguard. Gets rid of all the home screen crap on smart TV's, just leaving the menu. Also good for Tapatalk....

The sophos units are overkill though, all you need is a basic box with 2 network ports. If you're going to run suricata/adguard/multiple vpns etc and/or have gigabit nbn you'll be needing something better.

I'd run sophos, but it's incredibly expensive. Fortinet is also good, but even more expensive. Don't buy a s/h fortinet box as they're locked down and not easily opened up, the hardware is excellent though.

I bought the sophos xg as I want to run sfp vdsl modems which don't play well with the on board sfp ports on the sg series. They work, but sync is 20% less than it should be. They are ok in sfp+ ports on expansion modules, but they are hard to get and expensive. The xg has on board sfp and sfp+ ports, so hopefully will be all good.

Just got a Steam Deck from Kogan

Got the 64gb one with a 512gb SD card for storage when using Steam/Games and another 512gb SD card to boot into windows anbd use as a normal PC. Another 256gb card for emulatiors - should be able to play old games up to and including nintendo switch games - Zelda here we come ;)

I'll throw a 512gb or 1tb SSD in it eventually but not needed yet.

Saves me lugging my lappy to work - USB C to the monitor at work and I've got a full windows 11 desktop with mouse/keyboard and all my programs etc setup.

Will look at one of the stand alone LCD monitors with inbuilt battery and I won't be lugging so much gear around.

Headed into the high country for an extended long weekend next weekend and leaving the lappy home - the deck should give me all I need. Will try a bit of photo/video/drone editing on it to put it through its paces.

Immediately pulled it apart to upgrade with the 2TB expansion drive (Intel 660P SSDPEKNW020T8X1 M.2 NVME M-key SSD PCIeGen3x4) :) has two NVMe slots, so 2.5TB of space should be plenty for a laptop :spoton:

Resurrecting this thread as this Lenovo setup has been running strong for quite some time but recently ran into RAM usage issues (probably me and my 100+ chrome tabs open on any given day :P)

Upgraded the 16GB of RAM to 64GB :)

I did clean out the dust from the fans after I upgraded the RAM haha

After (already using over 20GB haha):

I took my air compressor gun to my PC the other day. Looks heaps cleaner and fark me did some sh*t come out of the 360mm CPU cooler radiator.

Still 4790k @ 4.7 with 3080ti, 32gb 2400mhz DDR3 ram running a 144hz 1440p monitor lol. I might upgrade one day but it still does what I need it to so why bother?!

Sounds like a very similar setup to me, 1440p 144hz is the tits. Will run the PG279Q till they die probally.
Used to be a 4770k with 2x GTX 780's. More recently a 12600k & 3080 both on water self contained.

Since I bought the desk (details here -> https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/81090-cool-stuff-you-just-bought/?do=findComment&comment=1724519), now I've got plenty of desk space... time for an upgraded monitor :) a Kogan 27" UHD 4K "Frameless" USB-C monitor with a Kogan Full Motion Gas Spring single mount (for 17"-32" monitor) to mount it to the desk :) success!

Goes alright on the corner of the desk with this crappy old/cheap adjustable laptop stand thingo with an old keyboard and modern-ish mouse (bought it as top-of-the-new-line back in 2015 😮 https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/81090-cool-stuff-you-just-bought/?do=findComment&comment=1555186). 2560x1600 (same as 1440p but in a 16:10 ratio) laptop (had to turn off the 165Hz on the laptop to put it down to 60Hz or it flickers a bit too much comparatively to the 60Hz 4K monitor... not a big deal as I've barely noticed the difference since doing it) + 3840x2160 (4K 2160p 16:9) FTW! :buttrock:

Doubled the wobbly problems, but that got fixed later on as per further discussion in the CSYJB thread.

Now of course the laptop stand and keyboard situation needs to be rectified...
