Most outages here are less than an hour.

maybe becoming more frequent as they close down another power station

We're in the same zone as the hospital so used to be pretty much a priority area re uptime.

I think the hospital has now got it's own feed, so that's no longer the case :(

There is an on demand gas plant opening near (11km away iirc) my house "shortly".

Hopefully that will lower the elec price in S.A as well as prevent blackouts from happening as frequently.

I have a 2 KVA Honda generator that plugs straight into the house with a switch mains/generator I had put in when we did our house reno

we lose power up here on a semi regular basis

more so in the wet season with cyclones and such

I can run everything in the house except any air con units

I'd like to have that kind of setup here. Most of our power losses are short but we had a 3 day one once. We ended up staying in a motel but would have stayed at home if we had a generator.

we would normally loose power for 2 to 3 days after a cyclone

having a generator is just so much peace of mind

don't have to worry about food spoiling, pool going green or not getting my internet/gaming fix

also get brownie points with neighbor when I run a lead over to her house for her fridge/freezer

the last time I lost power I rang the power company and abused them, they said no idea why.

I went to my power board in the garage (after I spent 2 hours trying to break in) only to find it full of smoke and a burnt out switchboard.

a 24/7 sparky call out fee and 2 visits from the power company late, yer I could have had a build gearbox by now. :/

2 hours to break into your own garage?

you need to speak to a friendly locksmith who can give you a few pointers
