l'd be suprised if Ford swicthed to such an expensive gearbox, what would be the use of a world class gearbox with a Flintstones driveline?

l personally would be much happier to retain the same boxes but have the money put into a driveline that had no lash and drived like a modern car. l will be very disappointed if BA2 doesnt address this issue, its almost enough to make me look elsewhere for our next car.

Hi Simon, that driveline lash getting too ya? Any other drama's so far? Hopefully my auto in the GT won't have this problem, was non exsistent in the turbo auto (note, thread hyjacking in progress). Cheers Buddy

Nah its not that bad, just seems dumb to me to have a nicer gearbox if a problem that Ford have refused to spend money on since the AU days remains. If the next HSV range with the Gen 4 is a ball tearer then l will be first in line to check them out. l think Expensive Daewoo are going to hit back hard and Ford need to address ongong issues like this, and the brake shudder of course.

...... 1    F**K....3......4......5...too fast....6..arhhh  cruise..... hmmm

Arhhh cruise at 2350 rpm at 100km/h? I think not.

Who knows what 6th gear ratio ford will utilise and what final drive ratio is planned for this new trans upgrade. We may all be pleasantly surprised.

In any event I would rather have a world class trans which has 2350 to 2500 rpm at 100 KPH that shifts cleanly and quickly, than a clunky old truck gearbox like the T56 trans.

The one that youve never used Peter?

Ive driven it (The Mal Woods conversion) & its nothing like a Late model camira or viper that Ive driven before...

Unless youve driven Brian or Lachlans cars you dont know what youre talking about.

I have spent plenty of time with the Getrag trans in my M5 and the T56 is prehistoric by comparison. Its like comparing an XK falcon to a BA falcon. :(

It does not matter what you do to the shifter, the fact is the T56 is a clunker of a gearbox. You cant compare the T56 to the getrag, its simply not a contest!

Last week I agreed with you, I drove brians car on the weekend & now I dont.

Despite what you think you know, you cannot expect to be taken seriously without having tried it.

Its like me saying that a unichip was a pile of crap, when Ive never used one. You & other people who have would leap to its defence.

So then I just say that Ive used an older or inferior one & it doesnt begin to compare to my computer.

Its a crap arguement.

Edo, Now that I have ceased laughing at your last post it took me all of this time, you cant be serious.:ermm::ermm:

There is not one person on the planet with any knowledge of manual transmissions who would not die laughing at your suggestion that the T56 could be compared to the Magnificent GETRAG 6 speed trans. Please get real, this is getting silly now.

This is like comparing the quality of the BMW M5 to that of a Holden, there is no comparision. :ermm:

I can't find where edo is comparing the T56 to the Getrag?

I think the point edo is trying to make is that the T56 in Brian and Lachlan's cars have a completely different feel to your run of the mill T56.

Geez, you must be the most closed minded person on the face of the earth.

Ive driven an M5, Ive driven a TT Supra, Ive driven a T56 Commodore, Ive driven a Viper & Ive driven a Mal Woods T56 XR6T.

You may have driven all of the above except the T, I dont know.

I accept that the M5 & TT Supra shifts are better than the commodore & viper.

You are not in a position to say whether or not the box in Brians car shifts better than any of them, simply you havent tried it.

The box they put in the T had some internal differences & a difference in shifters that Im sure WBT56 can explain better than me.

Neither of us have driven an XR6T with a getrag which may never exist...

You will notice that I havent claimed that the shift on Brians car was better than a getrag, just that Brians shift was very good, & far far better than I expected.

So you are prepared to back a product youve never used against another product youve never used???

that's either brave or stupid.

How do you like this hypothetical example?

I had a safari turbo system on a patrol years ago & it was never any good, it detonated, it overheated & ran like crap.

Therefore everything Peter Luxon has done ever since is garbage.

On that basis I wouldnt even look at his kit for the XR6T, & you cant tell me that APS can even compare to the work of ZXCV turbocharging.

Doesnt make sense does it?
