HAVE FINALLY ORDERED MY XR8 UTE WITH FIVE 18INCH RIMS (@$1900),

THE DEALER PHONES ME UP 3 DAYS LATER TO SAY I CAN'T HAVE FIVE I CAN ONLY HAVE 4 (@$1500) UNLESS I PURCHASE THE BRAKE UPGRADE KIT FOR THE XR,

A. IS THIS A JOKE?

B. IT SAYS NO WHERE THAT I CANT HAVE 5 RIMS (INTERNET AND BROUCHERS)

C. I CAN ORDER FIVE OVER THE INTERNET ON THE FORD SITE UNDER CONFIGURE A PRICE.

D. THE ONLY THING CLOSE IS THE FORD INTERNET SITE SAYS 18INCH RIMS MANDATORY WITH BRAKE UPGRADE KIT.

I'M NO FOOL BUT SERIAL D. TELLS ME THAT THE BRAKES OBVIOUSLY DONT FIT UNDER THE STANDARD XR RIMS, AND THAT I CAN HAVE FOUR THOUGH.

CAN ANYONE CLARIFY THIS FOR ME OR IF ANYONE HAS HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS OR HAS ORDERED THE 5x18INCH RIMS WITHOUT THE BRAKE UPGRADE KIT AS MY UTE IS CLOSE TO DELIVERY NOW.

FRUSTRATED, BRETT.

that's not true. load of BS.

he is lyin to you man.

You must have an alloy spare if you get the premium brakes, so I dunno if he has gotten confused by that or what.

Oh and what dealer?

GlennRX6T,

I KNOW YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE SPARE ALLOY WITH THE PREMIUM BRAKE KIT BUT I AM NOT BUYING THE UPGRAGE KIT AND HE IS TELLING ME I CANT HAVE THE FIVE 18INCH RIMS ONLY FOUR OF THEM AND A DODGY SPARE RIM.

CAN'T TELL YOU THE DEALER DON'T WANT ANY TROUBLE TILL I'M SURE IF I AM RIGHT.

You can buy the fifth rim without the brakes.

Your dealer is a knob!

Tell him you want to order it, print out the options list from the we and show it to him.

Might be worth explaining to him that he needs to know his product a bit better.

Also, please don't shout!! (turn off Caps Lock)

Easy solution. Tell him you dont care if its allowed or not. If you dont get the 5th 18"rim you will go to a dealer that will organise it.

I had similar problem when I went to buy my car. I was all aset to order 5th 18" alloy and the dealer talked me out of it saying "no one buys that". I was so excited about the rest of the car it slipped my mind to pursue it. :o For $400 extra it's a bargain considering an 18" Dunlop is ~$550 on it's own.

l remember hearing something on this late last year. Ford had dropped the option of a 5th alloy unless you went premiums to streamline the production line (fark knows how much difference that change could make :finger: )

But your dealer should be able to organise it anyhow.
