You mean in terms of storage quality and maintenance upkeep of facilities/functions associated with the fuel itself?

I won't get fuel from certain BP servos (non-metro usually) that have sold contaminated fuel even though I generally prefer BP.

I prefer a servo that moves alot of 98 octane as well - sometimes it's hard to tell.

Lately been going for the cheapest stuff - BP was cheapest the other day for me.

I also ALWAYS get a receipt everytime I fill up. I f*cking hate having to ask them!

Keith I don't think I'll be able to get data!!

I can however tell u caltex at Kurnell and Mobil in botany have a direct line from and to Vopac and teminals at botany and also direct lines from vopac to Melbourne and SA QLD and what not.

Only Caltex refines fuel in oz today but its also very rare as its cheaper and easier to import it refined already!

Anyone with a density meter and whatnot can test fuel from a few servos and find the same results across the board! Unfortunately we Ozzie's get poor fuel compaired to the rest of the world and most fuel providers use each others fuels for supply and demand.. If we were getting 102 or 105 it mite be a different ball game but 98 is a base fuel in 100+ countries

are you sure you are comparing the octane correctly? (RON VS MON)

Basically the USA's 91 octane is the same as our 98 octane.

I think we get pretty good fuel.

Also in WA I thought we only had BP doing the refining and in the eastern states I thought caltex shell and BP do it? (off the top of my head).

That was my impression too.

Plus I've used BP since I got my first car, as most motoring mag's etc. always rated them higher than the average for their different fuels.

I have had rough cold idling since my last tank of BP, going to put shell in next.

reading on wikipedia:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octane_rating

"Hong Kong: only 98 RON is available in the market. There have been calls to re-introduce 95 RON, but the calls have been rejected by all automotive fuel station chains"

Imagine if we only had E85 :stirthepot::stirthepot:

edit: I remember with my first BA, 98 octane was like $1.70. My first fill up for my BF was 1.19/L :P

Can't hurt to ask? I'd be happy with redacted/classified documents :)

You enjoy Christmas  cake? What is wrong with you? Lol

P.S guys most of the "refineries" in oz no longer refine fuels it to costly to transport everything over and then proceed to refine.... they are mostly just storage tanks today.

I think Caltex is the only one that really does any refining but im pretty sure that's for diesel as its a much less refined product and less complicated to meet oz standards!

Its funny how 3yrs ago diesel was about 20c more per litre yet cost half as much to make... = government and refineries getting a huge win every time some woman pulls into a servo to fill her 2.5ton school run Prado.

Please take the E85 discussion over to this thread (EDIT: I've moved the posts from this thread related to E85 over there) ->

Guys,

For the last half year, I've been ignoring Coles' 4cpl petrol discount on their shopper dockets as it drops Shell 98 RON to the same price as the BP's I use in Sydney.

The last couple of times I've needed to fill up around my neighbourhood, the local BP has been up around $1.57 and the 7-11 across the road has been around $1.30.  I wonder if 7-11 has scrapped the high-low price cycle and is selling fuel at the cheap day price all week?

The 7-11 servo I've been using is newish (less than a year old) so maybe they're trying to promote the outlet?
