the issue here is most of wa's 98 comes from kwinana refinery iirc, so the difference would be in the blend?

but I believe more difference is between one servo to another in wa in my opinion.

Keif it could be months between a caltex car comes in and the chance they happen to use the same servo is very unlikely

this is my findings though and can always differ between states etc etc

I always run untied either p98 in the daily or e85 in the hoist ornament.

Filled the daily with shell optimax the other day lost 100ks of range in my regular commute and generally ran like a bag of hairy r soles.

Anecdotal evidence is just evidence collected by one person that can't be repeated or verified by another person's experience.

It might be with your vehicle's tune...

If it's got ethanol in the united blend you used when you completed your 98 tune, you might have taken some advantage of that ethanol content, which when then using a non-ethanol-blended 98 from another servo may have/cause issues?

Daily isn't tuned champ. Stock file. So E10 should cost me range not enhance it over Shell's non blended P98.

Would you like me to fill up and shell and repeat just so we can loose the Anecdotal tag?

EDIT: moved the 98 discussion over to this thread from the 'recommended workshop WA' thread.

It'll still be anecdotal until you get a reasonable sample size in all of the possible variables, so there's no point you worrying about filling up at the same station again to re-get the same result.

Have a read about why "anecdotal" is not a good measure of typical scenario's here -> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anecdotal_evidence

(yes, I know I'm linking wiki, but the first section is quite reasonable to cover this topic).

Sorry, my bad, didn't realise you said you filled your daily. E10 might cost you range or it might not... haven't seen a lot of solid evidence on this topic, either, with N/A cars... but I can't explain why it ran like crap, but I doubt it was solely the different 98's fault (something to do with your car itself, is my guess). Never heard of a N/A 6cyl B-Series falcon having trouble with different 98's other than rare cases where a specific servo had an issue.

sigh...

United P98 (allegdy E10 according to recent anecdotal evidence) gets better range than NON Ethanol Blended Shelll Premium 98. Shell Optimax Premium non ethanol also resulted in stumbling and hesitation. United (anecdotal E10 blend) P98 did not.
