Bf mk2 ticking noise under load

Ok mate so tonight I took off the heat sheilds and found a few of the bolts from the turbo manifold into the block where loose so I toghtened them, And 2 are completly missing the bottom bolts/studs-nuts?  (hardest to get) out of the 4 that connect the turbo to the manifold.

also had a feel of the part that spins inside  the turbo (not mechanicalt minded lol) and it has a small ammount of movement is this bad? =S

If the compressor wheel on the turbo is not moving enough to rub the housing you're probably ok in that area. 

 

The ticking is probably a gasket from the exhaust manifold to head join that has failed. If you have a leak there (or from the turbo to dump pipe) it makes a ticking noise. 

 

Get some stage8 or nordloc locking nuts and some studs for the turbo to manifold join and a new exhaust manifold gasket and dump pipe gasket and put it all back together and hopefully it'll come out ok.

K31th do you think this problem could also cause terrible fuel economey?

ive just noticed im using over 16lt per 100km driving like a complete grandma...

or you think might just be o2 sensor or somthing like that?? Cars got 165,000

boost leak will cause sh*t fuel economy.

 

o2 sensor won't give you a ticking noise, it will make black smoke come out of exhaust I think. On my car im thinking of replacing it due to some excess black soot collecting on exhaust tips.

Ok well theres 2 of them so once I get the boost leak fixed if is still has crap fuel econ would you guys recomend changing both or just the one b4 the cat first of all?
