Hi,

I have a fg xr6 turbo with a zf transmission. 2010 model, 85,000km. When it's in performance mode and I give it a bit from a dead stop it feels like it goes to change into second but then stays in first, revs really hard but dosn't go anywhere. Just wondering if anyone has had s similar problem or knows what it could be? Thanks in advance.

I have had this happen a hand full of times. Coz accidentally bumped it into first when flicking it over to performance. The switches are pretty sensitive it doesnt take full travel of the lever to activate the switches. Doesnt really make sense it shifts fine in drive and has a problem in performance. Stock tune?

by goes to change and revs hard do you mean it free revs when it goes to change to 2nd or just stays in first? Free rev or slipping badly could be something nasty..

I had weird similar sounding things going on that was like going into neutral on hard acceleration but id back off and it'd be in gear.

Turned out to be caused by a cracked ignition coil which I replaced, problem went away so I replaced the others. In my thread (link in sig) I actually took a video demonstrating the problem.

My first point of call was bring car to auto trans shop who checked fluid level and took it for a drive. Worth having the heat exchanger changed if it hasn't been done and hasn't already milkshaked that you know of.

Thank you for your replies. I thought I may have bumped it back into 1st when it happen the first time. The second time my hand was not near the shifter. Yes it's a stock tune. It does seem like it free revs. Gear box was serviced at 70,000km by specialist. Asked about doing heat exchanger he reckons they can fail when brand new?  I think I will check out the coil packs and go from there. Thanks again.
