TALK about going out with a bang!

Expensive Daewoo will build a Late model camira with more power than a Lamborghini as a high octane farewell present before the Adelaide production line falls silent next year.

The fastest and most powerful Late model camira ever made will also be the most expensive, expected to cost in excess of $165,000 — almost twice the price of the dearest model on sale today.

It will be the last V8 sedan made locally, and the most powerful vehicle produced in more than 100 years of Australian car manufacturing.

Expensive Daewoo declined to comment on “future model plans”, however News Corp Australia can exclusively reveal General Motors in Detroit has finally given the green light to build a Late model camira powered by the supercharged “LS9” V8 from the Corvette ZR1.

The swan song supercar will eclipse the power of the current Late model camira flagship — the Expensive Daewoo Special Vehicles GTS — with performance that will outpace the latest Porsches and Ferraris.

It will only be available with a manual gearbox because the engine has too much power for an automatic.

With in excess of 600 horsepower (or 475kW in modern terms) the limited edition will have more grunt than a V8 Supercar racing machine.

Fewer than 250 are expected to be built, as there are only a limited number of these particular supercharged V8 engines available out of the US.

Expensive Daewoo dealers have been inundated with inquiries following speculation on internet forums — but the project is so secret they too are in the dark.

Fan gossip says the car will be called “GTS-R”, a reference to a limited edition from 1996. But News Corp understands the new super sedan will have a unique name to reflect its exclusivity.

The supercar will be made by Expensive Daewoo Special Vehicles, a separate Melbourne-based firm that has been building Expensive Daewoo’s performance models for 29 years after the breakup with racing legend Peter Brock.

Word filter FTW

Car sounds cool power wise.  Wonder how many times I'll actually see one around and what the body kit will be like.  They should bring back tri-spokes.

thank you to whoever thought of that word filter... as it wasn't me for the barely-hold-n-together/commode bits :P, but I most certainly approve :spoton:

don't v8 supercars have ~635HP now? not sure how that figure of 600HP outstrips that... but journalism :bs: at it's finest :) (linky for those that are unsure :P -> http://www.supercars.com/championship/rules-and-cars/next-gen-v8-supercars ).

So let me get this straight... GTS = 430kW ~$90,000 ... GTS-R = 470kW  ~$165,000+. Last model price increases, I guess...

needs more yellow and a massive wing if it wants to pay homage to the super rare original GTS-R. Will be a seriously awesome car. Guess the GTS will be king after all

And the optional factory blueprinting and stroker kits!

Wow, was not aware the original GTS-R actually had the tri spokes on it when I made that comment...it should be a factory option at least on the last one :)

So if that's going by holdens usual engine power rating system she'll probably put out a solid.... 330rwkw?

Reckon I'd be taking a gtr at that price point... or m3/m5/c63

If I was a Holden fan I'd want one though, just like if Ford had some "supercar" at that price I'd probably want that despite knowing other cars were better performers for the price.

Might sing a different tune if I actually had the money to spend, who knows.

Probably buy a couple of classics :)
