They called it a 5 - Way pack but I'm not sure what the 5th option was - DOH !! Because I purchased the vehicle off the showroom floor I just said YES with a glazed look as I gawked at my potential new car. I think the interior is classed as 2 options - cloth protection and vinyl protection.I'll be getting the same thing, also for $2000 from the dealer. Reading through the posts on this forum, this is probably a little pricey compared to aftermarket. But to cut a long story short, I'm too lazy to hunt around for the best price and I think it will be much more convenient to get it done at the dealer before I pick up my car. Guest Xr6Tas Guests Posted 14/02/03 03:46 AM Share Posted 14/02/03 03:46 AM Thanks again for all the advice people. Much appreciated. From the sounds of it the paint protection is a good idea, so I think I might get it done. However I'm a little worried by the tint my dealer is talking about so I'm thinking of getting that done myself later. And the leather treatment sounds like a waste of cash. $1235 also seems like a lot of money for what you get. What I think I might do is just opt for paint protection on its own (any idea of typical cost?) and get the windows done later. As for leather I'll buy some good leather treatment (recommend brands anyone?) and apply it once a month.A question about the paint protection: What exactly is it? Is it a gloss of some sort they apply to the finish? Can it be removed? And do they buff it? If there's one thing I don't want its swirl marks on my nice new paint job from over buffing. HellionXR6T I'm Back!! Thats right, long over due! :) Lifetime Members 4,348 Member For: 22y 2m 30d Gender: Male Location: West Brisbane Posted 16/02/03 10:09 AM Share Posted 16/02/03 10:09 AM The paint protection I'm getting is done locally in Brisbane - its $350.00 to have it applied and you drop it back to them every 12 months and for another $40 they reapply it. That sounds good. Dude, I'm in Brisbane, East side. Hemmant. What are type of protection do they use? Where and who are they? I'm liking the re-application per year for $40.00 idea, sounds sweet. Wish I had of known about this. I would have gone down that path for sure. :D
Guest Xr6Tas Guests Posted 16/02/03 10:49 PM Share Posted 16/02/03 10:49 PM The paint protection that is part of the $1235 package I mentioned comes with a free re-application once every year for the car's lifetime. They also provide you with a special detergent designed to wash the car without damaging the protective coating. You can get as much as you need of it for free at any time.I guess that makes the $1235 figure sound more reasonable. What I'm worried about is how exactly they apply the coating. Is it something that requires heavy buffing? The last thing I want to do is pick up my nice new car with swirl marks all over it
