Guest Xr6Tas Guests Posted 12/02/03 10:31 PM Share Posted 12/02/03 10:31 PM I realise there is already a thread about the Ming protection package, but the package offered in Tas is a little different so I thought I’d run it by you all for opinions. The package consists of paint protection, leather protection and tint (dye based all round from Tint a Car) for $1235.I presume the leather protection would be some kind of surface treatment that stops the leather from fading/cracking as much and makes it easier to clean.I read up on paint protection in the other threads and it seems there are some very mixed opinions about it. I really can’t decide whether it’s worth doing or not.The main thing I want to know is for the price quoted am I better off getting aftermarket tint (in which case I could choose the best tint I can track down) and get paint protection later down the track? And buy some kind of leather treatment myself? Or should I pay the $1235 and get it all done through the dealer? Thanks again for your advice. HellionXR6T I'm Back!! Thats right, long over due! :) Lifetime Members 4,348 Member For: 22y 2m 20d Gender: Male Location: West Brisbane Posted 12/02/03 10:48 PM Share Posted 12/02/03 10:48 PM Well I'm in an arguement at the moment about the ming protection and the quality of the so called "Prestige paint". If you get the ming protection done, please, go over your car with a fine tooth comb, look for any blemishes, dull spots. Find one, tell them to do it again. If it is applied evenly and perfectly then yes it is still worth it. Our Silhouette AU III VCT looked a million bucks, they did a perfect job. They actualy gave it a second coat because they were not happy with the 1st result, wish I could say the same about the phantom BAXR.

The seats look as good as cars in the showroom. A guy I work with has almost the exact same car as me - he has never done anything to the leather and it looks old and worn (not bad, just old). Mine cost about half that for Paint Protection, Rust Protection/Sound Proofing, and Fabric Protection
Guest MercuryXR6T Guests Posted 13/02/03 02:35 AM Share Posted 13/02/03 02:35 AM I have ordered my car and opted for the paint prtection and interior treatment and tint through the dealer (Westpoint Ford). These treatments are guranteed for life and are check every year. If any poor areas are found they do it again , free of charge. My circumstances may be different as I am opting out of my company car policy for the cash alternative. I hope to generate equity in the car after 3 years so I want it to be as good as possible.
Robbo Member 249 Member For: 22y 1m 23d Location: Sydney Posted 13/02/03 09:58 AM Share Posted 13/02/03 09:58 AM Mine came with a 'Protection' pack which included Tint, Rust Proof, Paint and Interior. The paint protection is like a plastic outer coating. I was supplied with 'shampoo' for the car. It is fantastic. I was warned not to polish the car and NEVER take it to a car wash. The interior protection comes with guarantees. If I can't get the stain out, they will. If they can't, they will replace the seat.

They called it a 5 - Way pack but I'm not sure what the 5th option was - DOH !! Because I purchased the vehicle off the showroom floor I just said YES with a glazed look as I gawked at my potential new car.
