So the car has had a tune, 185 stock to 219rwkw. I have been told by the tuner that with no mods this is a good result. By peers I've been told to find a new tuner. The car has a low boost, 8psi I think. And a high boost tune at 15psi. I've put it on low boost for now, not keen on 15psi on stock valve springs.

 

Next step is valve springs, I've been told this is beneficial and the next logical step by another tuner, no need to retune and it'll make a big difference. Then I'm gonna save for the following.

 

Fuel pump, 60p injectors, actuator, 4inch dump pipe, high flow cat, and intercooler. The intercooler I'll be supplying myself, but I'd like a second opinion.

Will that be a good intercooler to get? Hopefully there won't be any fabrication to fit it.

dont get the dekas, and yeah if hes smashing 15psi on stock parts to net 219rwkw get a new tuner. a stock fg will turn 230+ rwkw at like 10psi with a smaller turbo

to put it in perspective 15psi with the factory turbo on 98 should see you well into the 300rwkw zone. Stock parts you wont get there and shouldn't be pumping that much into it the way it is now anyway...

Jet might be able to help you out with prices on a decent cooler like the plaz 700hp no cut or the jonny tig one.



HDI coolers work OK but not great. they fit like crap and you need to cut your car in half to fit it so resist the temptation if you can. few hundred more will gwt you a good kit

I like the sound of all this mate. It's a nice clean BA you're working on too.

 

With the intercooler, a mate runs the same brand in his 4x4 without issues but can't really comment other than that.

 

Have you managed to find any secondhand parts? I find people semi-regularly drift their modded xr6t into a pole and then flog off all the mods. Inspect any secondhand part carefully.

 

not a fan of that high boost tune, my car runs 15psi for 360kw lol.

15psi on stock B series hardware :ermm:

 

whose the tuner ?

 

HDI is a "ok" entry level kit but every dollar in this department is worth it's weight 

 

any decent cooler kit for the B series requires cutting or at least a medium skill level to get it in correctly

Geelong performance center. Paul is the name.

 

Just finding the right intercooler is troubling. Secondhand anyway. Tried ferntree auto salvage and they will have a ba with mild mods. Hopefully it has a good intercooler.

Yeh I think it might be better money spent looking at a turbo falcon specific workshop as a starting point vs buying stuff

Here are the dyno results, broken up into three images.

 

Took it to two different performance centers today. Both were surprised how little the tune did. No mixtures to compare to other tunes. Supposedly it's made 800+nm of torque at 3,000 rpm. Every chance it's been doctored on the sheet I've been told. Been told to be wary about overboost. .

 

So I'm waiting for call back to consider next mods, package deals etc. I've been told plazmaman or process west are well worth the money investment.

 

Feeling stupid, ripped off money wise and I don't like the thought of the turbo over boosting and blowing a piston.
