As mentioned by John I drive manual mode, all day, errry day

It's because I enjoy the tighter control over gear selection in all circumstances, be it cold, towing, spirited driving, overtaking, highway fuel use reduction, rolling up to lights in neutral etc.  Part of this is also to eliminate the lurch issue.  Stop in second and only shift to 1st once dead still and settled.  I experienced the other variation once (from www.thelurch.com) where I almost stopped, hit the pedal and it dropped to first and just about lost traction turning on to a road...not fun.

However, it's crappy that an auto can't auto without banging around and I'd like it if it wouldn't.

PS fluid change makes it smoother in general, just had mine done and noticed the difference.  Won't fix a lurch though.

mine has a zf tune which makes it chirp wheels between gear changes and still has the lurch so no idea whats going on.

I took another members suggestion to drive manual mode and I'm sorta hooked to driving this way mostly now! even when I pull up in 2nd it still has a little lurch when I select 1st.

I'm not saying it's fair but big business is big business and the end user always seems to get the worst end of any deals

I was only reading last week LSX tuning charged $1100 for a tune on a commo then a further $600 for the auto to be tuned :ermm:

its super common unfortunately

Yeah fluid flush resolved a rev fluctuation when cold of about 150RPM.  Was overdue if I'm being honest.

My lurch was tuned out of my zf.box was strengthened at the same time so I dont know if that was coincidence but in auto I believe it holds second as I stop instead of changing down to 1st at the last second.

Yeah have heard it can be made to sit in second with a tune.  Takes off fine for daily driving in second, I know if I'm ever driving grandma around I let it stay in second when I take off.  If you smash it to the floor I'm sure it still still kicks back to first right Gordon?

get hp tuners and make the change yourself on the transmission tune. It is one number in the trans tune that needs to be changed to get it to change down to first when coming to a stop under normal driving. Taking off in 2nd tuning and kick back when flooring it is a PIA. It drives much better when taking off in 1st also.

It is very easy to do.
