Hey guys

Has anyone had a good experience getting the sct tune to sort out the lurch from 2nd to 1st?

Got a fg xr6 turbo and it's driving me nuts. Would rather get an engine tune but if the zf tune works I'll go that path

I'm dyslexic and cannot turn off simple functions in tapatalk

I had this problem in my fg soon after I bought it (back in 2011 ish). ford actually sent out a zf tech to update it which fixed it 100%.

im not sure if they still do this though.

id go to a tuner get a engine tune a few basic mods and a ZF tune. my ute ran better with a tune than the stock tune.

mine has a zf tune which makes it chirp wheels between gear changes and still has the lurch so no idea whats going on.

I took another members suggestion to drive manual mode and I'm sorta hooked to driving this way mostly now! even when I pull up in 2nd it still has a little lurch when I select 1st.

The engine tune has to happen at the same time as you tune the TCM

you cant just get a TCM tune

you can flash a stock engine tune in with a modified TCM tune

but if you're already paying you may as well go the whole shebang

stock tune is peanuts to "create and flash" in comparison to a full dyno tune, though (unless I'm completely wrong?)

TCM tune can be quickly done if all you want to do is modify the stock TCM tune a little to only remove the lurch, nothing else?

The cost is still the same to the tuner and in turn will dare say get charged the same

some places charge the same again to do any work to the tcm

make the most of getting charged ...

well surely to flash in a stock tune won't cost $1k+ like a full dyno tune would... if it does, tell the khunt to fark off as all you want changed is a tiny portion of the ZF tune, no engine tune.

This seems like dodgy business practice to me, to force charge people just to access their TCM for a simple change.

If you can't find a place that won't charge the full rate for the change you are requesting then you can go with J@'s advice if you're still keen to get the lurch fixed.

I'm not saying it's fair but big business is big business and the end user always seems to get the worst end of any deals

I was only reading last week LSX tuning charged $1100 for a tune on a commo then a further $600 for the auto to be tuned :ermm:

its super common unfortunately

of all of that I have no doubt...

Like I said, ask around to find a place that'll help you (OP). If none will, then either live with the situation yourself or pay the $$ to get it sorted via a proper tune and enjoy these cars for what they're best at - more boost via a tune :spoton:
