Another Ellenbrook turbo resident!

I picked it up from work this morning.

If you are floating around on the weekend it would be good to catch up so you can tell me if I've wasted my cash...

Wont be the worst mistake I've made - sure to not be the last one either...

This is for my FG, so to keep my gt3576 and go gt3582 no matter what I would need another turbo.

Going back to my original query, I was trying to see if anyone could help with advice for me to to check it out, the economics of the whole exercise is another story.

This was why my first question was, "Why are you getting a second hand turbo?".

I would have only mentioned a couple of things otherwise.

I would have mentioned what Ralph said in regard to bearing sounding notchy or having a cyclic scratching or other noise. They all have a slight noise in them though.

Also I would say pull the chra out to inspect the wheels. I had damage to my turbine wheel that wasn't visible from the outside. It was easily fixed though so a few little dings isn't a throwaway.

You want at least 2 litres a minute oil flow into your turbo as well so check that too. Just let 500 ml come out in 15 seconds though. You don't want to drain your sump lol.

I think you about have it covered mate. Check everything mentioned and you should be gold.

Thanks very much Puff, Ralph and John!

This forum has so many people who happily share knowledge about this sort of thing. I've been around cars for ages but in all honesty I am all thumbs when it comes to getting things done!

I'm a constant stalker on the forum and rarely say much but have certainly learnt a fair bit (it was lurking through this forum that made up my mind to buy a turbo ford ahead of a V8 Commo back in 2007).

Really appreciate the help.

Cheers!
