So doing some researching for a new engine and ive been contemplating running a high compression ratio engine for e85. I spoke to spool about it and the custom pistons required would set me back around 1800. So that's a little inpractical however I came across the ecolpi engine with its CR of 12 to 1 which would be perfect for me.

Can anyone confirm the internals of the ecolpi short block? would the turbo head bolt up to it perfectly? would you see a drop in compression with the turbo head on the ecolpi block? And finally if it would all go together fine could you use the eco lpi pistons with forged turbo rods for safety?

head will bolt on no worries, no idea on the eco lpi but egas internals are only marginally better than N/A items. Cant see why you couldnt use forged rods with the high CR pistons, however im not sure its a great idea for reliability reasons given your intention will be to make some serious powar. Are you sure you want to commit to a high CR boosted engine in a daily? You will never be able to put 98 in it again even if desperate...

Unless the Eco Lpi piston is floating wrist pin which I doubt they will then you won't be able to use aftermarket rods with them. 12:1 is extremely high for boost really it's to high would be a methanol only engine if I was to run Comp that high.

Why 12:1? The stock n/a FG enigine is 10:1 which is a better compromise and at 10:1 you could still just run it on 98 with the right cam setup.

12:1 e85 on boost would be magic because of all that extra efficiency. Youd start to see fuel econ figures similar to petrol bur also extra power and response out of my small turbo which is another huge plus.

The fa20 has direct injection going for it but at 12:1 on petrol id have to consider water injection as a precaution
