Rear Upper control arm replace

Hey guys. Looks like We may have found the problem. Went to Bridgestone epping (very very very helpful. Recommend anyone to go there) and when the rear end is under load (tight turn) the upper control arm knocks. My question is, can I just undo the bolts and replace it or do I need a special tool to get into the tight spot or do I need to drop the cage again?

 

also while I was there I saw Bridgestone Potenza re003 tyres (on par with Goodyear F1's) for $235ish for 18". Buy 3 get 1 free. Nice bit of rubber.

cant help with your question.....but good to hear the re003 is on par with F1A2. Getting a set on Saturday for $285 each (245/35/19).

Good news that you know what it is! Is it the arm itself, or the bushes?

When my upside-down-diff-bush issue was found the inner upper control bushes were initially identified as worn and the possible cause. I had quotes ranging from $200 to $900 for replacement. Kmart were the lower one. They insisted they didn't need to drop the cradle and their quote was based on the estimated effort for that car (BA) for that job stored in their database.

Another place was were $900 and insisted they needed to drop the cradle. They were a large chain too.

Specialist suspension place quoted about $400.

So I booked it in to kmart and they then found the diff bush issue and fixed it for $100. Upper control arm job will need doing in the next year or too, but not urgent for now.

Short answer is I don't know! Can't understand how the quotes can be so different, and different views on how it needs to be done. It's not like it's an obscure car.

Its the bushes. He took the car out the back and went around and around and around slowly listening to the noise. I think by going around so many times it made the bushes worse so when it was hoist it was obvious. When I had it on jacks I couldn't find any play in the rear wheels. Ordered the pair for $100 OEM. I gave pedders a call and asked them if the cradle has to be dropped and they said no just a long braker bar and socket. Fingers crossed that the last thing to change. thanks for the reply.
