***VX*R8*** Member 202 Member For: 11y 2m 5d Gender: Male Posted 09/04/16 09:43 AM Share Posted 09/04/16 09:43 AM I have a used GT3582R with .7 front cover to go on my G6ET but am thinking about getting a GTX3582R instead. Is there much difference between the two turbos as far as real world performance and is the cost difference worthwhile? Will be running kpm1500 injectors, PW stg2 intercooler, 4" intake, 4" dump & 100cell cat, 400lph fuel pump, Crow valve springs and billet oil pump gears. Also have a manual conversion to go in at some stage and E85 is a possibility...

My stock turbo has just shown signs of being worn. I had a spare external gate gt35r so I used the core from that, added a gtx wheel and machined the 0.7 comp cover to fit the larger wheel. With a flapper job and other small mods for the larger compressor it will come in at less than a grand.

I decided against that, because, from my calculatoring the compressor would be too big for the combination of the stock turbine wheel as well as the internal wastegate. I almost went gtw3884r with adapter but at twice the cost of a stock upgrade as well as having a stock motor and driveline I chose the lesser path...for now. If I was to buy a gtx35r outright, I wouldn't. I'd go bigger but that is just me.

Its been done alot by jim gianna, race equipped and monsta torque. Alot of people dont realise that the gtw is a step down from the gtx If I had my time again id make a gtx3576r also because going to manual is better for spool

The gtw should make more power according to numbers and figures but as mentioned the compressor wheel has the drawbacks of being old tech. There are other reasons not to use a gtw turbo but google can provide those reasons to interested people. It did for me. "Is the cost difference worthwhile?" Decide how much power you want, your dollar per kw and what will achieve those goals.

I just love the sound of a t04z hence why I want the 66mm comp cover+wheel
