Old black betty has been doing really well till about a few weeks ago. It's started to run a bit rough at idle then the other night it hit about 4700 -5000rpm had a boost cut out on 3rd and 4th gears. Traction control off. Slight up hill load. Coils might be due and plugs. K&N pod definitely needs cleaning as does the o2 sensor, if not completely replaced like I did on the first round of mods. Coils were done back in Nov. 2016 when Jet did the intercooler install. And its definitely not a daily driver so surely they would last longer than that. Thoughts before I start taking it a part.. It's kind of a waste of time to say it might be this or that cos stuff needs to be checked before guessing what it might be. I'd get in touch with jet and see if he can take it for a spin around the block with his laptop to see what's up with it. Make sure you have fresh fuel in it, if and when you take it to him. Fuel and filter definitely could be another thing. Jets like 50+ mins away from me so I will start eliminating things by inspection and maintenance. In all honesty I have been just driving it and not checking or maintaining it lately. Throttle body clean. Boost controller clean. Pod clean Oil and filter. O2 sensor clean/replce. Overdue. Plugs replaced and regapped. Coils maybe. Still have a full set of ones I replaced, I can try them. cheers nath.

You did mention a couple of things that came to mind from your first post. I'd try the coils after everything else though cos the ones in the car now should be fine. Box stock T. Member 1,384 Member For: 9y 9m 20d Posted 26/01/18 12:46 PM Author Share Posted 26/01/18 12:46 PM Coils should be least of the trouble, I'm lucky to do 5000 km's in a year in it. All other things I have done at some stage of the modification journey so hopefully one of the above things will solve the problem. Game of elimination beings.

They seem like the most likely culprits for the symptoms but I guess we'll see. Swap stuff a bit at a time so you know what fixes the various issues.

Running rough at idle typically points to all the usual items so start with plugs and moving through to expensive parts I’ve got a pretty close boost cut on your car due to it being a BA and at ~14 psi now so you probably were just in all the right situations to induce a touch of over boost and I’ve not given you any room to play there if in doubt bring her down 1

Now ya say it, it's not happening very often because I did a quick test run today and it didn't cut. Cheers for the parental restrictions buddy.hahaha. If it saves the engine I'm all for it. Plugs are definitely due and throttle body clean cleaned up idle last time so they will be done. See how she goes if it's still not 100% I will give ya buzz jetters... Cheers mate.
