Hi all, I have an almost standard 2008 G6ET and have a couple of questions before I run it at a drag meet.

Mods = battery relocation, 4 inch pod filter intake & hard piping, standard inter-cooler, aluminium throttle body.

1.  what is the standard max boost ?

2.  when over-boost happens, what actually happens ?

3.  will it be leaning out to a dangerous level at WOT ?

When hooked up to an OBD thing I bought off ebay, max boost reads about 10.2, I don't know if this is an accurate measuring system or not.

Thanks

1. U dont need to know this question when you have a tune

2. When over boost happens because of lack of tune your engine will go bang

3.refer to answer for question 1

Tune it or theres no point running it...

Cheers end thread

Your mods are likely to have made any gains without a tune to compensate and they will be minimal risk of over boost.. but u may as well get a tune to gain anything before u run it or its pointless.

Run it stock, so you have a base time result before mods.  I got 13.59 stock in my BFII.  11.9 after $5k in mods :)

Just chucking on a pod filter won't do much...in fact the small gains might be cancelled out if it's sucking in hot engine bay air now!  Is it in an airbox or exposed?

OBD is pretty accurate man.  It's the car's own sensors after all.  As long as those are working well it should be pretty close.  The downside is the sample rate won't be as high as data logging with an XCAL device or similar.

It will be accurate to what the obd is processing yeah on the intake side.wont show whats happening on the charge side.

I have an obd thingy with torque on my android and it seems fairly accurate against the boost guage when things are running right lol.

Edit. Also what steve said about the sample rates.
