Guys,

I have found yet another possible annoying but minor problem with the XR. I have checked this on 2 others and it appears to be the same.

When you look under the rear wheel well, on the side closest to the passanger door, you will notice the black sponge stuff that is suppose to act as a seal. Well mine has bubbled and will soon peel all the way off. On my brothers XR, his has already started to peel and in some places has come all the way off.

I was speaking to other enthusiasts over the weekend after discovering it, and there thoughts are, it is suppose to act as a seal so no water can get in, reducing the possibility of rust and to cover up where the sheet metal joins with other sheets.

This is not aftermarket sound proofing you can get but stuff taht the factory has put on.

Guys, what are your thoughts.

I am sure that over time that when moisture and dirt builds up behind this stuff, rust is surely going to set in and /Start Ken Quote:"My Precious" /end Ken Quote, will be harmed.

I had an AUII XR6 from new that had the same stuff sprayed over it from factory and in the 3 years I had it, the black stuff/seal was never a problem.

No doubt I will be asking bout this at its service, and belive it should be

properly done!
