Pads and rotors or just Pads? my 6 potters took about 1000km's to bed in. I was initially disappointed with the feel as the pedal have a heap of free travel and seemed to required a lot of pedal effort/travel to achieve the same braking as the 4 potters.

 

After they have fully bedded you only need to breath on the pedal and it pulls up.

My NS400/Brembo 4 pot brakes feel decent, after possibly being the same at first man.  I recall not loving the initial bite but it's improved now.  Same rotors on mine so there's that to consider - possibly remnants of old pad bonding materials still on them getting in the way of optimal performance

so judging by the few responses above.....most of you guys didn't machine your rotors when changing pads? 

My local ABS shop said they will not install any new pads unless you get the rotors machined first.....this was back when I had practically new DBAs with less than 4000kms use.

So are they just being money hungry???

Machining Disc Rotors

There is much controversy over when to machine the rotors. Some technicians are of the opinion that rotors should be machined any time the pads are replaced. Others machine new rotors prior to installation (we don’t recommend this with DBA rotors). Some vehicle manufacturers recommend only turning the rotors if the thickness variations exceed 0.15mm / 0.006 inches. We will leave this decision to the technician.

I have always taken thickness variation as the indicator to skim but each there own
