I reckon I'll check for leaks with some carby cleaner and then grab a tps if don't find any leaks. I couldn't find a Torque output that would give me pedal or throttle position, with engine off or on (they were all reading zero). However in testing that, I noticed if I flicked the pedal briefly in neutral (enough to raise the rpm by a couple of hundred) the revs would surge after I'd released the pedal up to about 2000 rpm and then slowly die back down. I reckon that backs up the theories you guys have re vacuum leak or throttle related electronic issue. I wouldn't have thought blocked exhaust or ignition components would behave like that. Tried unplugging the TPS and the thing went nuts like it did the other day. Pulled the codes and got very similar results as above - only difference was P2111 (throttle actuator control system - stuck open) instead of P2110. All other codes exactly the same (had cleared beforehand of course) Given unplugging the TPS gave almost identical behaviour, I reckon I'll throw a tps at it as suggested and see how I go. Thanks again for all the advice - I'll let you know what happens.

New TPS but issue has returned a couple of times since. Seems to be that it starts ok in park, but when I put it into drive it chucks a CEL and codes, and stumbles and shakes all over the place. Happens about once a week, and is fine again once I switch off the ignition and restart. Also put in a new PCV (no change) and unhooked. I noticed when I start it, it has been revving to about 2k for a couple of seconds, then settling down. Has always done that of course but used to be more around the 1600 mark. *unhooked battery for half a day

If so, was it just a case of unhooking the battery for half a day?

The occasional ridiculous roughness hasn't come back, except for the once after the work above. So I don't think those thongs fixed it, but seems to have gone away on its own. Generally at idle it is still very slightly off - but not enough that anyone except me would notice. I feel like there is a slight roughness on light throttle, but smooth as under heavier load. Overall, I wouldn't be surprised if there is a slight vacuum leak somewhere. As much as the perfectionist in me hates it, it is probably best to leave it and see if it gets worse. If it does, it will be a lot easier and cheaper to diagnose! Also have some wear in the centre tailshaft bearing which is getting fixed next week. Might be worth seeing how that goes as it could explain what I'm feeling under light acceleration.

Also, could the timing chain have skipped a tooth or two? U1900 is comms fault because of the obd dongle being plugged in. If you leave torque running and turn the car off and then turn it on, you get this code sometimes. Seems

Yeah, not too worried about U1900. Checked all the manifold and turbo bolts the other week and all good. I haven't been bashing it so unlikely with the timing chain, but you never know! Maybe the wife is doing skids without me knowing.

I never bashed the limiter and had similar issues. Hard acceleration and decelration is not good for the timing chain and harmonic balancer? Rear turbo housing was cracked and guides were snapped. No skipped tooth for me, but chain was replaced.

I had bad coils which caused some of these codes but also filthy battery terminals. Now I've been living life without fault codes! masda74 - for some reason I think that you are telling us lies when you say you've never bashed the limiter Edited 07/07/16 10:37 AM by johnxr6t

I know I have hit 6200rpm before, but that was an accident. However with me taking off in 5th today on the frewway at 80kpm, the car kinda went ape sh*t and spun tires. I crapped myself. I had to change my nappy when I got to work.
