Hey guys, as the title says I have an FG MKII XR6 NA. Am after advice for some cheap(ish) mods to get a few more KW out of this thing than your average taxi.

What mods should I be looking at?

Flash tune? Which mods should I get first? Any recommendations in the Melbourne metro area?

Cheers guys.

nothing dude.....save your money for a turbo car ;)

just put a nice exhaust, hole in intake + k&n filter, maybe one of those powerbond underdrive kits, then just make it look sweet....

sure you can maybe get 180-200rwkw eventually....but that's only going to happen after you spend bulk, and then you'll be pissed that the same amount of money would net you so much more gains on a turbo vehicle.

Thanks for the reply Joe. Will do.

As for the other replies, well we (Mrs. and I) already have an '09 turbo. This 2013 vehicle is primarily for work. I'm just after a few serious and informative suggestions, in detail (parts etc), to get a bit more oomph out of it. Not trying to break any records here, just more than your average taxi.

Cheers guys.

but why? its a work car....enjoy it STOCK

If you're looking for more oomph, put your pennies into the turbo cause it would be a lot more rewarding. Is your 09 turbo stock?

I'm not going to be much help here....so I'll let others chime in. My comment above still stands....I would source a cheap, good condition full exhaust (just to give it some noise)....maybe go 19" rims (if leaving stock suspension); but I personally would lower it too (just depends on the types of roads you go over in your work duties) then maybe a k&n panel filter with a hole cut in airbox. Cant really think of too much else you can do that is 'cheapish' and adds power (other than what is mentioned above?) ....

also maybe pics of your cars will help people come up with answers.......hahaha

if you wanna do it cheap, std fg turbo exhaust, pacemakers I think were used on the fg im thinking of, xr8 snorkel and Custom 98 tune netted 198rwkw. fg turbo exhaust isn't a restriction until about 300rwkw so its plenty for the n/a and quiet enough for a work car. they are also cheap as chips when they pop up.

custom tune by somebody who knows what they are doing and gives a fark will be key. spend your money wisely there and dont skimp, headers will be the other place not to skimp perhaps do some research on them

I cant help but want to mod any car, and id probably do the same, just forget cams and stuff, costs a bomb and just doesnt see the gains per dollar. Any more than 200rwkw just get a turbo

Ok thanks. Don't care about noise at all. The quieter the better afaic. But now we are getting somewhere, I appreciate the input. Any more suggestions and specifics?

Yes PTR Nitro the 09 is stock as a rock. Not really into modding cars, but this '13 could do with a couple tweaks.

Thanks.

What barnz has mentioned is the best path (if you like it quieter)....although I rekon you are doing it the wrong way around; but hey its your money :)

make a thread with pics if you end up modding it....would be interesting to see how it goes!
