discostig Manual mode ________________________ All day, erryday Donating Members 13,798 Member For: 17y 2d Gender: Male Location: Probably above atmospheric pressure Posted 20/03/16 04:36 PM Share Posted 20/03/16 04:36 PM Quote Officially, Australia’s most powerful six-cylinder engine (and the only all-Aussie production engine), delivers 325kW at 6000rpm and 576Nm at 2750rpm – conveniently 1Nm more than the XR8 and well up on the 270kW/533Nm figures of the standard XR6 Turbo it replaces, and the 310kW/565Nm outputs of the old FPV F6. But then there’s the official overboost figures claimed by Ford for the first time for its beefy Barra turbo-six, which is based on the higher-compression XR6T engine (8.7:1, rather than the F6’s 8.5:1) but adds the F6’s larger turbo, bigger 82mm injectors and 50 per cent bigger intercooler, plus a new lower airbox and Ford-first carbon-fibre air intake with 45 per cent better air flow, stiffer GT F transmission mounts, bespoke engine calibration with individual boost maps for each gear ZF auto calibration and, for the first time, launch control. Ford claims 370kW and the same 650Nm torque peak as the XR8 Sprint in 10-second transient boost mode when conditions (read: intake manifold air temperature) allow, which not only peaks above 14psi earlier and for longer than in the F6, but resets with every gear change. Given you’re unlikely to spend a lot more than 10 seconds in any given gear during enthusiastic use, and that Ford guarantees there’s never less than the nominal 325kW/576Nm outputs available, it’s a recipe for rapid, repeatable standing-start acceleration and bullocking in-gear flexibility. Do they mean 82lb? Nozzles that are 82mm wide would flow a hell of a lot of fuel hahaha. Is that the size of the FG F6 injectors? I make do with 42lb. Pretty little excel graphs... ooooooo With the 82mm, they could be talking about the length... but I doubt it. Probably do mean 82lb... The current F6 injectors are definitely NOT 82lb... if the XR6 Sprint is meant to be 82lb, it'll be the biggest stock injector by quite a long way. with regard to the car itself... ooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhh yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh winning XR6T Sprint. barnz Member 3,047 Member For: 11y 6d Gender: Male Location: Brisbane Posted 21/03/16 12:04 AM Share Posted 21/03/16 12:04 AM fords not being completely honest about figures imo, most suspected the 6 would be quicker but when official figures were released this theoretically shouldn't have been possible with the v8's torque curve holding 575nm flat from 2200 all the way to rev cut at like 6500. that should have nullified the 6's power under the line advantage but rumors from ford testers are the 6 just pips the 8. The only way it could really do that is if its making power differently or just more than what they have claimed. the 50kg more the 8 weights wont make that much difference I wouldnt think..
