Hi

my car is a ba 385kw on 19psi

its time for me to replace my valve springs. they are really soft. Anyway I was wanting to change my head gasket too. Considering that I have to remove the head I thought I would change the cams to something a bit larger. I dont drive the car alot so fuel consumption isnt a worry. I found a set of crow cams off ebay. Though I didnt really know what type until I sent the number on each cam to crow. it turns out they are as follows.

241/241    .530/.530 lift  112L/C

I know I would need vernier gears but I want to know would these cams require any other modifications to the head..? I havent seen a cam with this much lift for the dohc prior to this so im not sure. I know I will need a tune and the tuner will despise me for getting the vernier gears but they didnt cost that much and I dont drive the car much. Like mentioned I thought I would change them out now instead of later. let me know your opinions. cheers.

Heaps of people blow $800-$1000 on a turbo side intake and battery relocation cause they want that hectic turbo noise, not because it's necessary at their current power level. Y cant a man spend $800 on a tuff sounding cam too, specially since he's already there. I wanna do a cam with the valve springs as part of my stage 2 but no one seems to talk about it.

Because your car can become a pig to drive

Cams are for V8's

Just wind the boost up, remove some mufflers if you want cool sounds

Maybe even Put a few drops of water down each plug hole on #2 & #5...

It Will sound like you have a cam then

I don't know of anyone personally that has used crows cams, however, I know plenty that use TBRE and Atomic, both sound unreal and regardless of power gains, sounds leaps and bounds better than taking a muffler out LOL

I dont care for the sound. Nor do I care if the car is a pain to drive. this is not an everyday car so it doesnt bother mme. I need to remove the head anyway and I have the cams ready to go. From reading a few threads I concluded that some good gains are attainable if changing cams but my only concern was if there was any issue with installing a cam with that much lift. Was there any more work needed to be done to the head.
