Hey guys,

Im taking the ute in to get the temperature probe sensor welded into my dump pipe, the exhaust is already fitted to the ute and I was wondering do I need to worry about any swarf/metal filings going into the dump pipe, my way of thinking is being after the turbo I shouldn't have anything to worry about? All they need to do is drill about a 10mm hole and weld the fitting in place.

Thanks

Completely fine, few bits of swarf will just blow into the muffler

What's the reason for the EGT probe ?

Curiosity or is it for tuning purposes ?

Just to keep an eye on things, good way to know if its running lean etc, I know that heat is the main killer of these engines. Can never be to careful!

Is your probe in the dump pipe? I know the best place for them is before the turbo, but I'm not bothering doing it in the manifold. Just going to be in the dump pipe.

Second only to an actual wideband afr gauge.

Of course! Not that id know what readings I'm actually looking at.

I don't even know what EGT readings to expect lol.

EGT is a total waste of time.

Unless you're running a probe per exhaust port it's not going to deliver any useful information.
