Hi all,

I am a bit on a noise nazi and just recently I have noticed that on take off from a dead stop there is a ticking noise that happens about 4 or 5 times and then goes away. Its louder under hard take off and almost sounds like if you had something hitting the wheel spokes. It only happens from a dead stop and is gone by 10km/h.

It sounds like it is coming from the passenger side engine bay or wheel well. I have searched a few threads and all I am getting is diff bushes but its not coming from the rear.

Its a 2010 FG XR6T Ute with the only mods being atmos vent bov and intake muffler removal, 80000k's.

Cheers

Check your tyres for a nail or screw being stuck in one of them.

Hey guys,

Yeah after messing around a bit tonight I don't think I used a very good analogy for what it sounds like. I tired to record it and you can just hear it. It happens really quickly and only on acceleration from stop, the diff clunks (you cant hear that in the recording) and then straight after you get a shullfling kind of noise.

I put the windows down and tried to pinpoint it but it is louder with the windows closed. I think it might be coming from the transmission or driveline. Sorry about the recording its really quiet but its much more noticeable RL

Thanks for the help so far

Is the rear end lose somewhere?

Loose u bolts letting the axle tramp away from the spring? Does sound like a metallic tramping sort of noise.

Ah far out, would that be causing the clunk as well? I just thought that was a standard option from factory.

Is it worth replacing now or should I see if it gets any worse?

Thanks again Womend.

PS I noticed the site was struggling a bit yesterday so I donated to get the server serviced :)

Yep you guys were bang on, crawled under my car with my GoPro. I don't really have the tools/skills to tackle it myself, how much is a reasonable quote?

Also is that diff clunk normal?

Thanks again for your help, hopefully this helps someone out because unfortunately I don't have much to contribute!
