I asked our security guy ages ago if I should go with a Data/Coms box. They said I wouldn't need one. NBN in the garage Yes or No? As I've said in my walk in I'll have home security, CCTV. Switch board and now NBN boxes. Im having a walk through on WED with my security guy I'll ask again what they think. We got back our electrical checklist back and a little shocked in both ways. 1 I was expecting it would cost us a lot more and 2 the price of some things. 1 data point $110 each NBN $110 $330 to run cable from outside to inside light switch extra light $45 keith is our go to man.......... I think its a requirement for all houses built in new Greenfield sites / Estates

Those bloody boxes should be banned from the world period. There is no way you can patch your network cables correctly. At the same time the power leads cause interference. I have no interference and internet works well. My power switch is outside the hills hub though. Why can't you patch the cables correctly?

If you want to place your routerwith wifi in the midle of the house it would be fine, but if you use your router as a switch then you cant. I just hate those boxes with a passion cause the have been arround for ages. One of my CEOs has one in his house in mandurah canals and it drives me bonkers when you want to connect 14 devices to the network. No where to mount a 16 port switch in there.
