I like the switches STEVER. a nice classy touch. I just replaced the 30 year old ones in my place with the clipsal slim line.

can you shed some light on your kitchen...is it finished? imo it needs overhead cabinets, I think this has been discussed before but that wall looks really bare, also whats the go with the tiled splashback? why only one row of tiles???

Kitchen isn't done, we are thinking of open style shelving above and yeah the tiles are a legality, something has to be there but we don't know what yet so just went with the plain white until we get in and sort it out.  Glass splash backs look awesome but the price the builder would charge for that would give you a heart attack, so we were told anyway.  If they charge like they do for bathroom tiling they aren't far off.  $1800 for a small bare walls toilet space that we already bought the tiles for ourselves...

About 6 weeks to go if we are lucky!

yes regulation is there needs a fire resistant product behind the cooktop so it can be signed off for use.

yes glass splash backs are very pricey, over priced because of popularity. its only clear glass with paint on the back ahah.... id get your open shelving done then tile up to the range hood. :)

just noticed is your fridge going to the right of the oven? no overhead cupboard for that either?

I'd be the only one that could reach it hahaha.  Wouldn't bother me not having anything up there.  Would likely only end up holding crap that never gets used.  I've certainly found that the more storage space you have the more crap accumulates.

Got plenty of pantry and lower cupboards already for perpetually unused champagne and wine glasses (neither of us drink it) etc.  Would rather a plant up there or something cool to look at!

Agree! However it means it doesnt matter what size fridge u have coz all will fit and look fine...

Also lpving the shelves idea iantead of over heads in terms of putting like recipie books and sh*t up there... I found quite a few antique old scales and sh*t id wanna put in an open shelf system in my ktichen... the only down side is dust
