I need some help in choosing the right tyre size and tyres for my Fg ute. The car is only used on the street but running a good amount of power (480rwkw) it's having trouble hooking up anything under 3rd gear.

I'm running 19x9.5 +22 front and 19x10.5 +12 rears

Cheers.

I'm gunna go out on a whim and say there probably isn't any tyre that could hold down that power (not in 1st or 2nd anyways?). Especially in a ute.

You're best bet is to go 305/30/19 in the rear.....in whatever decent tyre you can get in that size?

Not gunna be cheap....maybe you should get a 2nd 'sensible street power' tune :P

sh*t I love being a grammar nazi ;)

Maybe something like an achilles 123s semi would go ok?

Edit

Ditch that, looks like they only go up to 18"

I no speaka gud engrish :( sorry bout it

Yeh I'll need to chat with Tocchi or someone smart regarding semi slicks.... I thought all were similar but there's soft, medium, hard compounds, then stiffness of tyre walls and all other weird factors to consider lol

Best chance of power holding would be Toyo R888 I'm guessing? Or a cheapie that might be good is the Hankook Ventus RS3 ?

I have 450rwkw in a manual. Had michelin pilot supersports 275 30 19- similar dry performance to the goodyear f1a2 I had before that.

I now have r888 265 30 19. They just blow all the other tyres away. Straightline grip is no longer an issue on the street.

Chuck some semi slicks on the back. I did cos I barely drive the car and have a brutal tune. Still lights up but it's a lot more predictable and holds on a lot better.

Bad thing is once they're hot they're sticky as and peeling everything off the road and flicking it up at your car when you drive through loose stuff

My biggest bonnet chip is from sticky tyres on the car in front during a car cruise.

Right in the middle and visible from inside the car due to the edge on it :/
