So went to a place called kevin white audio in unley park

Didn't have sonos

In my mind I've just complicated everything I know by 100 and mortgaged all 3 of our houses to get what I want but don't need

Hasn't gone well hahahahaha

On a positive side we were shown a marantz amp that has everything the playbar can do app wise and more and found some nice wall recessed speakers and then a standalone active sub

Taken all the info and gone for a think about it

Still haven't heard a sonos done right yet lol

The marantz CR610 with airplay is $1299

The recessed DLS speakers are $690 or $349 ea

The 8 inch active sub is $399 or $550 for the 10 inch

The amp is all the wifi features/app/airplay stuff you can think of but still has a cd slot in the front ( we liked that ) and it's only a entry level amplifier well suited for wall or bookshelf style speakers

Can run two fronts and two rear then the sub is quite nimble vs a typical amp/receiver

Sounded really good

There was a set of speakers taller than me and amps in that 10k mark, bookshelf speakers at 4k subs at 8k and all sorts of cray cray stuff going on

I dare say you could do 100k easy on the "best" stuff it's that's what floats ya boat

I knew where this was going to go lol

Story of my life hahahahaha

Entry level of a better quality will always beat top quality of the lower brands in normal situations

It was a very impressive sound with CD and itunes and spotify playing

you could always stick to the original budget :) I'm confident you'd be satisfied with something reasonably simple.

Haha yeh as I said I've just opened a massive can of worms now

Should never of walked in there

The bloke was good and had no biased outlook as I asked about nearly everything and he had good things to say about nearly everything except soundbars but for obvious reasons re quality

Their sound rooms were very good so I understand that anything I hear would be at its absolute best there

well, if you "liked" the sound and you'll have a similar setup, then go for that :P If you won't have a similar setup, get something cheaper.

I'm not a fan of soundbar's, either :)

They let you play your music choices? They would definitely be able to price you up something cheaper than the stuff you listened to.
