I'd go a Focal Dome system over the Cambridge Audio, personally. But Az came in saying he wanted something simple, and primarily for music...which is why I suggested Sonos.

https://www.westcoasthificannington.com.au/Products/Speakers/Satellite-Speakers/Dome-5-1.aspx

I could probably get you a better price than that on Focal gear btw Az...not sure if it'd work out cheaper with shipping though, that's all. But with that you'd need a proper amp and stuff too...at which point you're spending way more than you're going to with the Sonos setup.

dude their twice the cost of the cambridge system.

Right, just went to jb's to have a listen to the playbar

Not impressed by a fair bit, admittedly the sub was apparently on but no movement from each of the facing woffers whilst playing

The BOSE lifestyle 120 easy had it over the sonos gear and a wack cheaper

What am I missing stripes ?

It just wasn't loud by any stretch

You need to go visit a proper hifi store man...no JB store I've ever been into has ever been setup well for listening demos. Could be any number of things too, setup, sub level, placement, what audio source they were using...could be anything.

But from personal experience I've never thought much of the Bose lifestyle systems. I always thought they lacked a HUGE amount of depth and detail. I much preferred the Focal Dome setup for a small footprint surround sound setup.

Not being loud is definitely NOT something I'd accuse the Playbar and Sub of. Mine goes plenty loud enough when watching tv or listening to music...and I'm a bit of a hifi nut, so unless you're hearing is significantly worse than mine, I can't imagine it'd be a problem. It's like anything though, all depends on what you're after. If you want super loud then go an amp and some floor standers. If you want proper 5.1 with decent sound, but a small footprint, go Focal Dome. If you want the best wireless streaming system with easy integration, Sonos.

I had an immediate impression that "something isn't set up right" and asked the bloke if it was correct

He had a look through the ipad that was there and they purposely disabled the facility where you can add the speakers and left it to the base settings

As I said the sub clearly wasn't working as no movement from each woffer

I asked if this environment was reducing the effects of the set up and he said no and did go onto say the sonos was the best in it's range

Iam going to give it another go at a hifi store where they can give it the best chance possible

It was very aesthetically pleasing and the sub was heavy

Maybe the bose set up was the best it could be where as the sonos might not of

Good price though he could do $820 on the sub and $847 on the playbar

It's nice to read that you approached it objectively Az. So many people would have sat there and gone "this sounds like sh*t...not getting that!".

Good speakers brad my old boy has some nice krix floor standing twin 6 inch drivers and tweeter sets in dark wood colour with the material grills powered off a nice yamaha amp

The step farther has been well into the audio stuff and has a fairly comprehensive set of DB Dynamic floor standing speakers with twin active 10* subs separate

Latest sony big amplifier in brushed alloy then a bunch of surround speakers to 6.2

So I know a decent system but have never been to keen on the room it all takes up hence why the soundbar thingos are more of what I think I'm after

Hahaha nothing wrong with your place at least it's yours buddy, not to many people can say that these days

I should say I have the room but trying to keep it modern and simple

Just spent heaps of coin re decorating the house with furniture and painting and it would just be keeping with the modern sleek theme that's all

Roof mount or hidden in walls behind pictures. I know im being a fan boy for krix but if your budget is under 5k and with a good aussie product also award winning stuff it not bad at all for the coin. If your ever doing a job down hackem pop in and have a chat. Mate has top of the range stuff just before you hit concert stuff in his theater room and FARK man it is unbelievable. Over 30k though but he put on some shockone and in my house that rattles sh*t off the shelf buts his setup makes your heart skip a beat. Its like being at a sound off comp. That clear and if you want much bass you just turn it up and watch your superdry bubble and keep growing a head.

So good
