Bit the bullet and ordered a Sonos soundbar and a couple of speakers.

A mate asked me to work out a system for his new home (townhouse) and the more and more I looked into the Sonos ecosystem the more and more I liked it.

We were having a BBQ for Australia Day and talking about it when another mate mentioned he gets a decent discount at JB.

We both ordered systems the day after (just waiting on an email from JB to say it's ready for pickup)

I did manage to avoid buying the sub and more speakers for around the house, but I'm sure I'll be expanding the system over the next year or so.

We both got a soundbar and 2 speakers - he got the Play 3's, I got the Play 5's. I reckon the 5's will be overkill for satellite speakers for the surround, but should be perfect as stereo speakers for music.

The ease of just unplugging and plugging into a different powerpoint in whatever room/outdoors/shed etc should be brilliant. Play 1 for the bathroom definitely in the future ;)

^WHS!

Should definitely pick-up a sub or two, Rab. They make such a difference, they really lift the sound overal. 5/7 would bang!

Why not? Fairly compact and aesthetically pleasing. Same principle with the sub too, just plug it into a new powerpoint and she's good to go.

Will do pics/comments when I get them.

Subs definitely on the cards - when the wallet recovers.

Beauty of the system is I can use the playbar, sub and 2 speakers for 5.1 with the telly - then, with a tap on the app use just the 2 speakers (or other ones) with the sub for stereo.

Bonus is - I change the layout of my lounge and rooms every couple of months. I've never bothered setting up proper speakers due to the cabling. Now all it will need is a powerpoint instead.

Watching the footy/racing/movie/cricket/etc? I can have the audio on the TV and also in any other room in (or out of) the house so I'm not tied to the couch for fear of missing anything. Only thing they lack (for me) is a truly portable unit (small, battery powered one).

Streaming options are pretty huge and sound quality is miles above what it used to be.

I ended with HEOS sound bar with sub and it's great. Wont listen to TV sound ever again. I'm looking forward to when I can get the media room done with added speakers.

If you're after a good portable sound cant go pass the BOSE soundlink mini. For such a small speaker the sound is pretty good. Worth looking into Rabs
