From the perspective of an audiophile...no, a soundbar cannot "replace" all traditional 5.1/7.1 setups...not even close. But the right one can sound decent and fit the particular niche it's designed for.

Have to agree with Stripes, I would only use a soundbar if I was not going to have a dedicated system, even top of the line TV's have crappy sound, this is where you will benefit from a soundbar.

Whilst the topic is hot do you think you get the same sound from WIFI to wired speakers?

I would think you would lose some sound with the WIFI.
