Hahahahaha gold love it

What is it that bose lacks stripey or can you just see it for the mass produced cheap stuff it is and know buyers get stung by the name ?

I honestly thought bose was a decent brand or is it just the best of the low end stuff type thing ?

^^ as long as it's in an acoustically similar environment and with similar music that you enjoy listening to.

I'm just saying that only a specialist hi-fi place will have thought about the acoustic environment that they are trying to reproduce a quality sound time after time. Even then, some don't... With regard to the music/movie/whatever audio source, if they don't let you play some of your own then I wouldn't even bother purchasing from them :)

To my ears the Bose stuff always lacked depth and presence. They sounded very flat and lifeless. And you pay for the name. Their marketing has been very good, and they hit their target market with it. They're chasing people who are easily pulled in by the name and pretty, shiny things (I.e. chair sniffer)

^WHS. This was why I suggest you disregard your demo at JB. Proper HiFi shops (good ones) will set up systems that give you a decent indication of how it'll actually sounds in your own house, away from all the noise and reverberation and sh*t you get in big open area shops like JB.

I have pretty high standard when it comes to what I think sounds good with audio gear...I'm pretty fussy. I always knew the Sonos systems were great at integrating into previously existing setups, and originally went in to buy a pair of B&W CM1's and a powered Sonos connect...but after a decent demo of the Playbar and sub combo I was sold. A decent HiFi shop should be able to show you how the sub integrates and adjust its level. Like I said originally, the sub integration with the Playbar is what makes it. So I'm not surprised you came away feeling underwhelmed if the sub wasn't working, like you indicated.
