Hi all.

Im saving for some performance mods for my bf xr6T.Looking at buying like a intercooler kit from plazmaman and putting it in myself.just need some help.the kit includes 1000hp LIGHTWEIGHT TUBE and FIN Intercooler

- 500x400x76mm PRO SERIES core

- 76mm COLD SIDE piping

- Under headlight COLD AIR INTAKE and FIlter

- Brackets and instructions

- HOT SIDE piping kit

Could I just bolt this on to my stock engine?or should I get other mods aswell like injectors, valve springs..etc.

Also after installing would it be safe to drive the car with the mods installed? As I will have to get it tuned and not planning on towing it.

As much info as possible would be much appreciated.

Short answer, yes you can just bolt that kit to your stock engine but you're going to reach the limit of other parts like injectors and exhaust etc before you get full potential of the plaz kit

Depends whether you want to go mild, marginal or wild really

Work out your end power goal and do a bit of research on here

Plenty of build threads - start in the 300kw section if that's where you're aiming at, massive amounts of helpful info on this site

IMPORTANT - need to work out who is going to tune it and talk to them before you buy anything

Some clown on the internet can tell you anything but they're the ones who have to work with it

As far as finding a good tuner, again do your research but if you're after recommendations and you're in Sydney, can't go wrong with CMS in Prestons or Autotech in Granville, there are others but these guys have a great reputation with these cars

As far as driving to your tuner after install, will depend on what mods, eg. I drove 15km for my last tune with new turbo, intercooler and air intake without dramas

That was previously tuned as well, if modding from stock will be safer

Can't stress enough importance of keeping off the boost and basically just babying it there

Hope that helps

This is the magic button ;)

Rob @ MT FTW

Simon only cares if you're spending 20K+

I second Rob @ MT, he fitted my PWR transmission cooler and tuned the ZF transmission.

My car was sold to me pre-tuned by XFT but I found Rob honest and really helped me decide on my future mods, without spending stupid money on things I won't need, so I'll be going with him.

Although one of my future mods will be a Jonny Tig intercooler but not until the new year, in which case I'll give a certain person that frequents the BenDocoLimo thread a PM for some info and pricing.
