Bit of a head scratcher, for me at least, I've come to conclusion of cuntsf*cked.

BA BTR 4spd, recently installed into BF. Running air trans cooler.

1-2-3-4 = work fine in tiptronic and D mode.

4th works,

4th gear kickdown works,

1st gear engine braking works

Reverse = works fine when COLD

When WARM, it needs about 2,000rpm over 3 seconds, back off throttle slightly, and then reverse engages with a big thud.

When HOT, it needs about 4,000rpm over 3 seconds, back off throttle slightly, and then reverse engages with a big thud.

Trying to work out if it is a:

Line pressure issue

Low fluid in transmission

Reverse input clutch

Anybody have an idea ?

Serves you right for not going with a ZF.

Make amends.

^^^^

Is that cause you have 2 zf's going cheap, even throw in a free tornado with each transmission to carry them home?

Tocchi I know it doesn't really help but someone else has felt your reverse pain... see post #124 in this thread

Great thread to dump it in

Don't use reverse when hot, that's a fix

I have been using this solution

Pfffft.

Only having ZF issues in one of the vehicles.

The other one doesn't go because of a P0121 error code that I can't figure out.

Get yer facts straight.

Meanwhile, I'm using a 527,000km ex-taxi.

Sigh.

(It seems that the troublesome green one has now infected the previously-reliable blue one.)
