Not tuned as yet it had this problem b4 upgrades and I thought it was the intake gasket leaking that was causing it ive since replaced that as it was in three pieces.I noticed when changing plugs the 2 cam plugs and the first 2 coil plugs are missing the lock in clips, could it be these loose connections

Exact same issue in my 04 xr6t. New coil packs sorted it. Interestingly mechanic put cheap no-name coils in, and the issue returned a few weeks later. Took car back, he identified and replaced faulty pack, only to have issue reappear a few days later. Redid it myself this time with NGKs and no problems since.

Hi andrew we thought the same thing so I actually bought some coil packs the other day NGK ones go for a drive zactly the same problem I have fitted a turbo smart dual port b o v to the pipe at the front on top of intercooler I disconnected the vacuum line off the originals plumb back b o v sounds good and all but I disconnected the vacuum line of both b o v take it for a drive and it is 50 percent better tonight I had to go out so I quickly put some vice grips on the pressure side of the original b o v still disconnected no vacuum and it is probably a nother 10 20 percent better I don't know if it is safe to do so or not but I think I'm going to remove the plumb back b o v and see how that goes I got a funny feeling its something to do with that I was watching the boost gauge while accelerating it is now going around to 15 PSI and from 1st to 2nd just hits 20 with a small psshh in between gears from the ts bov still plumbed in at the front minus vacume line then as its reaching to 15 again flutter drops cylinders and my excitement . Feels exactly like when traction control kicks in

Did you put new BOV in because factory one was faulty? If not, I would go back to standard and then trouble shoot from there. Can you tape in those plugs with broken clips nice and tight as a temporary test to see if that's the problem? When researching my problem, it sounded like a few people had similar issues from blocked cats too.

I found that when I disconnected the hose from intercooler to throttle body (so therefore no boost) the problem went away. So my weak spark could deal with normal pressures, but not higher pressures under boost.

If you tried tried the same thing it might help eliminate the problem.

No its not tuned properley as yet, whhich I know could be the major factor of my problem but I do have a capa flash tuner that is not married to a car and was a mate of mine who had similar mods maybe not as bigger exhaust not sure what exhaust he had but mine is 4 inch from Turbo back through a high flow cat to diff and then splits into two two and a half and exits both sides of the car through mufflers at the back. The kapa has a 10 12 and 15 PSI settings in it, I have changed the original actuator which was quite week 2A 8 to 12 psi actuator, I have also replaced the original plumb back b o v now 2 a good one. I will rewind the story a little bit here, when the car was completely stock I wanted to up the boost a little bit I was thinking of changing the actuator but wasn't sure which 1 to get so I plugged in a manual boost controller just to get a little bit of an idea on which actuator to get to suit the car in that process I think it blow out the intake manifold gasket and from then on this problem has been present if that helps a little to explain when it started. Someone said yesterday it more than likely will just need a tune now but I'm still waiting to get a few things in the mail that I want to fit on the car and then I will take it in I suppose to get the tune not sure where to go does anyone have any suggestions for a reasonable priced tune in Perth. I have the capa flash tuner as I said which may have to be altered to suit my car. I only have fuel pump and map sensor oxygen sensor left in my vocabulary for this car, I really don't think it is the fuel pump because I did fit the bigger injectors only to blow Clouds of black fuel smoke which to me is an indication that the Pump is pumping sh*tloads of juice so other than the tune is just a couple of sensors that hasn't been changed and if it is not one of those 2 things I'll be up the Cadbury Canal with no paddle

Thanks for the input guys I appreciate all of it so far. Andrew only fitted the blow off valve because I had a dual port Turbosmart here and I thought this was general rule of thumb upgrade unbeknown to me I think this is just a wank Factor upgrade, does sound awesome but I don't think it helps with the performance still learning.. I will tape those plugs in as well just to eliminate the loose fittings
