my wife had stop in a hurry or hit a car, when she did this the seat went backwards and now it will not move nor will it go up or down. im in a different state so I cant see whats the story, has any else come across this problem. thanks

Is it a G6E with memory seats or something? Maybe the clip came apart or the wires damaged somehow?

Seems like a weird scenario; especially if its the normal style XR seats that has the forward/backward movement via that piece of metal near the floor. I like the fact you said she either had to stop in a hurry or HIT A CAR lol

It would have gone forward if it was due to inertia during the rapid stop?

Ask her if it was sudden movement, or more gentle/smooth (powered)

Maybe (as posted above) something electrical

OP what year and model?

mechanical type = probs broken seat base or something broken and locking seat into place

electrical could be wires crimped, plug broken, fuse (maybe?)...

I don't know jack but more info about car might help the smart ones answer properly!
