Currently got 245/35/20 on the Fg. Does anyone know if you are able put a lower profile tyre on. Say 245/25/20 or so? also with narrow side wall how would the speedo be corrected? any feedback would be muchly appreciated.

cheers.

I can see 2 negatives for this ---- you watch, someone will prove I'm wrong with my thinking here. hehe

First up

you've got sssl springs on the back so going a 25 profile tyre will be like someone hitting you in the arse with a cricket bat when you go over the smallest of bumbs...........friggen uncomfortable

And

a 25 profile (assuming you have 35 profile on the front) will be a full inch less side wall and therefore MAY play havok with the traction control

Not too sure what you mean by ruff. I dont feel any difference from the stock 17" wheels that were on there with a 45 profile. Small pots holes and I get no different feel .

I went from 19" to 20" and smaller profile tyres and its a harsher ride for sure. Maybe my bushes are all farked to. Looks better so ill get over it in time.

Buuuulsh*t I can tell a huge difference between 18s with 265 35 and 17"s wirh 45 profile

17s are comfy as anything and much more supple over bumps

I suppose it all depends on what your level of harshness is mate. I reckon the difference between the factory 17"s to the current 20"s aren't as bad at all considering the difference in rolling diameter. Then again I don't have high expectations in regards to comfort with a fg that has 20"s anyway..

Lower your expectations to zero then if you're gunna put a 25 profiletyre on coz then you won't be disappointed.

Your car but --- just say'n

if you use the web site rimsntires you can check all of the different tyres v rims sizes and what it all means

The lower the profile the harsher the ride and usually lower cornering speeds due to lack of flexibility in the sidewall which can also increase the incidence of breaking traction looks great but not performance base. As always it is a personal choice
