Just reading through this nicely detailed explanation of how to change pads and rotors from this link...

http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/87706-tutorial-how-to-change-brake-pads/?hl=tutorial

just curious in the "time to change pads" section is it necessary to do step 7 (it states after you've re-spread the calipers that you need to open the bleed valve again to release possible air pockets, ive never heard of this before if you're not doing a brake flush, is it a must?

also it states when changing your pads always machine your rotors, my rotors are looking sweet , no warps, barely any wear , no scuff marks or track lines in the rotor, can I just switch the pads knowing all the fluid etc is good and not bother with rotor machining?

If any one wanted the answer for this I find is theres so scoring or scratching on the rotors and theres on edge lip from where the pad has been striking the rotor its pretty safe to put on new pads and do a standard "bed in" with the bendix ultimates due to their harder fibre construction. Any slight imperfections or tiny pulses will quickly self eliminate after a few runs and some heat as the pad will "true out" the rotor due to being a little more harsh than the GCT's that were on there.... These over bendix GCT's anyday, way better braking..WAY WAY better

Believe it or not , this time its pretty good with extremely minimal dust that shows on at least the outter rim. I'm not sure if its the spoked rims and the aerodynamics of the dust blowing out under the car instead of out, compared to the standard rims (that I've had on prior BA's). Haven't washed the car since, I will be tomorrow and its not because of the dust. For me I don't think it will be a huge issue due to me Being OCD about cleaniness and owning a black car I clean it pretty much once every week or second week at the very most the dust will just rinse off (hopefully lol).

Maybe the spokes do help lol but for someone who washes their car at least once a fortnight; brake dust is probably the least of your issues. Havent washed my car for 3 and a bit weeks...only the rear has a little black dirt (exhaust fumes probs?)and the little bit of ash from ashing my ciggies out the window lol

Havent had an issue and the brakes now feel exactly the same as all my other cars with the DBA rotors and bendix ult pads.... wire brush on a drill can remove that layer too :)
