Is Fpv T (typhoon) Value For Money?

Whatever you do sell your T privately because me thinks the dealers are going to give you squat for them (on a FPVT) especially if they have been modded!

I think by the time you option up the FPVT you will not have change from the 62k

And that is for a standard FPV poverty pack job.

I was quoted

1. $53,000 car

2. $9,200 worth of GST, Rego, Dealer Del etc, etc, etc.

About $62,000 on road in standard Typhoon form. All subject to change without notice of course. I have a strong and sneaking suspicion that when the dust settles the REAL DRIVEAWAY PRICE wiil be closer to $67,000 (bugger then I'll have to do some more work)

The Typhoon F6 Concept proves that the future of Australias performance vehicle market lies with 6 cyclinder turbo engines. This is already the case in Japan with Supras and Skylines and even Europe with Porsches.

What Australian manufacturers, and in particular Ford are discovering, is what the rest of world new 10 years ago. Which is that there is greater potential to generate kw and torque out of a turbo driven 6 cyclinder engine then there is out of 8. Plus the added better fuel efficiency and power to weight.

So yeah maybe this does signal the beginning of the end for XR8s'

Although with Australian motor vehicle enthusiasts being what they are there will always be a market for the peformance V8!!!

Not quite right - it isn't that there is more potential for developing power from the six. There is always just as much potential with an eight or a twelve or whatever. It has more to do with lighter weight which makes for better chassis balance and handling. It has to do with smaller displacement in the base engine which results in better fuel economy. And it has a lot to do with the engine configuration - ie it is easier with an inline engine in a conventional front engine rear drive layout to add forced induction. A vee engine creates underbonnet space problems with this type of vehicle. I'm not saying it can't or hasn't been done - just that it is cheaper and easier and therefore the more appealing approach to a mass market manufacturer.

Also in Europe and Japan there are higher taxes on larger displacement engines - and much higher fuel prices so the manufacturers are driven to smaller more efficient engines. Australia will eventually have to follow this trend.

Yep the F6 will be good value.

With 550nm I would imagine it would clobber a GT. The power, well 270kw seems a fair bit understated.

Interesting to see what gearbox they put in it.
